Last week, Mrs. Grover resigned from SJS to join the teaching staff at East elementary. Please join me in thanking her for her above-and-beyond service to St. John School and wishing her well in the coming school year.
Please join me in welcoming our newest teacher, Mrs. Darci Young. Mrs. Young will teach middle school Language Arts & Social Studies, and Ms. Alyssa Hawkins will move to first grade. I am exceptionally pleased with the quality teachers we have been blessed with on such short notice. Ms. Hawkins will begin setting up her first grade classroom this weekend. First grade parents can contact her at email@example.com
Kindergarten families that have not already done so may drop off their school supplies on Saturday, August 22nd between 10 - 1pm. Please wear your mask when you enter the building.
In an attempt to prevent the spread of Covid-19, group band practice will be held outdoors. SJS students are transported to the public school for practice. This year, practice will occur only under favorable weather conditions. Mrs. Lang has agreed to conduct individual lessons during the school here at SJS again this year.
Attention 4th through 6th grade girls! Volleyball practice begins Monday, Aug. 31 after school until 5:00. No practices due to Y-Camp on Wed, Thur and Fri., Sept 2-4. Practices will resume after Labor Day on Tuesday, Sept 8.
You can sign up in the office or email Mrs. Bussan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please join me in congratulating Regan Reeg. She has been awarded St. John school's Outstanding D.A.R.E. Essay award. Normally the winners read at D.A.R.E. graduation and are honored for their writing and thoughtfulness about the DARE program. This past year the graduation was cancelled due to the coronavirus.

Again this summer, if your child is entering grades 2 through 8, he/she will be required
to read. If they are an incoming 2nd through 4th grader, the student will be required to read two books. If they are entering 5th through 8th grade, they are required to read three books. Reading will be verified through the Reading Counts
program. If the book does not exist in the Reading Counts library please contact your child's teacher for approval. I will be here Monday through Thursday each day, from 8am - 2pm; exceptions can be made by contacting me. I will be available to your students so they can return and check out books as well as take the Reading Counts
tests. Most of the books on the list are available in our Public library. Those students who read seven books or more will be invited to breakfast, hosted by the principal.
