Dear Zion Families,

We’re just two weeks out from the start of school! It’s hard to believe the summer is nearly over. Last year, by the Lord’s grace and mercy, we were able to have in person school all year long. We look forward to another year lived in God’s grace as we get ready to start our new school year! Even with concerns about Covid variants and such, I am confident our students will have a great year of learning and growing in Christ! Please carefully review all the information below as we prepare for our first days back at school.

In Christ,
Pastor Buetow

MASK POLICY FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR
Currently, Masks are RECOMMENDED but NOT REQUIRED for anyone who is unvaccinated (which is all of our students, since they are under 12). Please note that we are following the McHenry District 15 (Elementary/Middle) with this policy. Be advised that the CDC recommends that anyone who is unvaccinated should wear a mask. Since that is not a mandate at this time, we will NOT be requiring students to be masked. We welcome students with or without masks, and we ask that all families respect one another’s decisions and practices with regard to masking. The single biggest factor in preventing the spread of disease is to KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME WHEN THEY HAVE SYMPTOMS OF ANY KIND. This policy is SUBJECT TO CHANGE depending on local, state, or federal mandates.

WELCOME MS. ASEN TO FIRST/SECOND GRADES!
We are excited to welcome Ms. Annalise Asen as our First/Second Grade teacher. Annalise  recently graduated from Moody Bible Institute with her degrees in Elementary Education and Biblical Theology. She has been working with children for 11 years. Whether it be in ministry, Sunday school, or the classroom, she always seized the opportunity to teach the next generation with the passion gifted to her by the Lord. Ms. Asen says, “I am thrilled to have this opportunity at Zion Lutheran School, to lead students with the same grace and wisdom my teachers afforded me!” Ms. Asen will also be teaching our P.E. Special this year.
