New to the Waterfront City of Southampton

Construction of Southampton's new dining and leisure destination, WestQuay Watermark is well underway. In December 2015, the development reached a key construction milestone with works on the structural steel frame beginning. Works on the Bargate Subway, creating a wider pavement in order to help improve pedestrian flow within the city, are now complete and the area has also been fully landscaped with trees, the first of many improvements made to the public space as part of the overall scheme.   

The £80m development will transform the leisure offer in Southampton, bringing luxury cinema brand, Showcase Cinema de Lux to the South Coast, along with a host of new restaurants, most of which will be making their debut in the city. Those secured so far include; Wahaca, Byron, Five Guys, Zizzi, Nandos, Bill's, Jamie's Italian, Cabana, COSMO, Cau and Red Dog Saloon, with more announcements to follow in the coming months. 

Due to open later this year, the development will receive £7m from the government's Regional Growth Fund to support the transformation of the public realm into a new and vibrant plaza.
Play on the Pitch at St. Mary’s

Ideal Collection support fantastic local Charity
 
Ideal Collection, is beginning 2016 with a pledge to support the work of The Murray Parish Trust. The company, which boasts six venues in the region, is teaming up with Hampshire companies, New Forest Spring Water and Harvest Fine Foods, to donate 50p from every litre of New Forest Spring Water sold at their restaurants to the charity. 

Ideal Collection has already donated £30,000 to a local allotment scheme project working with disadvantaged members of the community. Its support for The Murray Parish Trust is the next phase in its commitment to the local community. As well donating money from water sales, children will eat for just £2 during January and the entire £2 will be passed on to TMPT. During the remainder of the year £1 from every children’s meal will be donated to the trust.

New look for Holiday Inn Southampton 
 
Holiday Inn Southampton are very excited to let you know that from the 11th January 2016 the hotel commenced a full ground floor refurbishment.  During this time the hotel will operate normally from our Conference and Meetings area. There is a temporary Restaurant providing Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. A temporary Bar and Lounge is also available. A separate entrance will be created along with a temporary reception. Noise works will be contained between the hours of 9.30am to 5.30pm.
 
From the 22nd February the hotel will commence in a bedroom refurbishment of 2 floors to create brand new Executive Bedrooms. During this time there will be noise works between the hours of 9.30am to 5.30pm. On occasion’s i.e. less busy times during the day there will be only one guest lift in operation.

Linking the Isle of Wight with Southampton & the Region 
 
Red Funnel’s relocation to Trafalgar Dock at the end of 2017 is one of the transformative strategic projects being supported by the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP). £15 million of central government funding is being secured through the Solent Growth Deal to pay for the public realm infrastructure required for Red Funnel’s new terminal facilities in Southampton and a similar scheme being considered by planners in East Cowes.

The significant benefits which will be realised through this investment are:
• Journey times between Southampton and the Isle of Wight will be reduced
• Existing capacity constraints will be removed for embarking and disembarking traffic
• State of the art facilities for ferry customers

Red Funnel will move its existing Southampton terminals (1 and 2) and its head office in Bugle Street into a brand new purpose built building which will be built on the site of the old Trafalgar Dry Dock pump house.
