AusIMM Iron Ore Conference 2015
The AusIMM Iron Ore Conference 2015 was held during July in Perth and saw representatives from around the world visit one of the strongest countries in Iron Ore (even in today’s economic climate!).
Presentation topics progressed in a similar fashion to the iron ore industry processes as a whole – starting with exploration and geological studies and progressing through process efficiency, liberation and sintering to safety, dust suppression and shipping. The exhibition included local and international support businesses, automation companies, instrument suppliers and research institutes displaying products, skills and new innovation.
Highlights of the event included sessions regarding new innovation in in-situ testing and optimization, the conference dinner featuring prizes for the best submitted articles, and an interesting presentation on the global economic outlook of the iron ore industry and the potential impact on Australian companies.
Rick chaired the final session for the conference which included a presentation outlining the new changes to the classification and shipping requirements for Iron Ore Fines.
Overall, the conference was an interesting experience, and it showed that the future of the iron ore industry is still relatively bright.
