The exhibition gestippeld, gestreept, geruit en verbloemd in the museum at the former island Schokland will run until October 30th 2016. Friday the 2nd of December the encounter AiR for Experiment takes place in Delft, the Netherlands. Which I co-organize because of my involvement with artist initiative id11. After that I will  work for a month in Reykjavik, Iceland at SIM residency.
last chance to see
In their art work Rolina Nell and Guda Koster are inspired by fabrics and patterns and by the role of clothing when you wear it, clothes that also says something about identity and who we want to be.

With the exhibition
gestippeld, gestreept, geruit en verbloemd (dotted, striped, chequered and veiled) they connect their art work to the history of Schokland.

In the exhibition I show a serie of new paintings and drawings. Paintings in gray and black/white egg-tempera and drawings in charcoal and pencil, where women in traditional (folk) costumes form the subject. Paintings and drawing where the history is palpable and the identity remains mysterious, based on photos from the past, brought into the present.

In December I will work for a month in Reykjavik, Iceland at SIM residency. This 'short' residency at SIM I will mainly use to gather ideas for new work.
schokland scratch
During Schokland Scratch the 10th and 11th of September 2016 I made and presented the installation 't wasgoed.

t wasgoed - an installation of a 'roop' (clothesline without pegs, 13m), thirteen transparent fabrics with print (165x90cm), held up by two klerepalen (pols, 4m).
encounter AiR for Experiment – is there enough room for experiment in the cultural landscape of Europe?

How can artist organizations, artist-in-residence programs and local governments work together at local level to enhance the European cultural landscape? The encounter AiR for Experiment takes place December 2nd at Lijm & Cultuur in Delft, the Netherlands. Everyone is welcome to participate.

Medium-seized cities in Europe are embedded in the structures and cultural networks of a region, seeking to offer a counterweight to the capital cities that often recruit all arts and culture. How can dialogue and collaboration between local governments and artist-run initiatives take place in this context? What short and long-term effect can participatory art projects have for medium-seized cities or a region? These and other questions will be explored in several case studies together with policymakers, artist organizations and artist-in-residence programs from the Netherlands and different regions in Europe.

The encounter AiR for Experiment is a collaboration between id11 and Dutch Culture | Transartists in the context of the EU project CreArt.

For more information and the complete program of the encounter visit www.id11.nl.
