Apply for Free Lab Access Until 31 December 2020

Starting from October 2020 and up until 31 December 2020, applications are welcome for research stays and remote lab access to ERIGrid 2.0 testing facilities. Distributed over 13 European countries, top-class laboratories open doors to external users and their research projects. Successful applicants will be granted funding covering their travelling expenses, accommodation, all lab operation costs and support of the laboratory staff on site. Read more...

ERIGrid 2.0 at European Researchers' Night 2020

On 27 November 2020 ERIGrid 2.0 will hold a live presentation at the virtual Viennese edition of the annual European Researchers' Night and participate in the YouTube Challenge of the event. ERIGrid 2.0 at RTO Innovation Summit

On 18-19 November 2020 ERIGrid 2.0 participated in RTO Innovation Summit with a virtual booth, organised jointly with AIT Austrian Institute of Technology. Project Coordinator Thomas Strasser presented ERIGrid 2.0 scope of activities, summarised in the project video.

ERIGrid Wins Best Practice of the Year 2020 Award

On 29 October 2020, the ERIGrid project was announced the winner of the “Good Practice of the Year” award in the category “Technological Innovation & System Integration”. Awarded by the Renewables Grid Initiative, the prize recognises exceptional and innovative practices that improve the current state of affairs for the integration of renewables. In this year’s competition the jury acknowledged the impact of ERIGrid’s Holistic Approach for Evaluating Complex Smart Grid Systems and the integration of results in multiple laboratories, including 73 user projects and 175 users of the lab access programme. ERIGrid at a Glance in Final Public Report

Meanwhile ERIGrid 2.0 already started to build on the research outcomes of the precursor project, power and energy systems professionals are encouraged to use, disseminate and replicate numerous open access results of ERIGrid, also presented in the project Final Public Report.

In particular, reflected in the report are the activities ERIGrid performed to provide access to concentrated know-how and European research infrastructure to scientists and companies involved in the development of smart grid concepts and components. Read more...

Outcomes of ERIGrid Virtual Final Conference

With its end date in April 2020, the ERIGrid project presented the performed work and achieved results in the Virtual Final Conference on 1 April 2020. With nearly 100 participants on the line, the ERIGrid consortium successfully disseminated the outcomes of the project and obtained concluding feedback from stakeholders. Read more...

New smart energy era calls for new approaches in education and training. Addressing the rising complexity of intelligent energy systems, the ERIGrid consortium has developed a variety of state-of-the-art materials and tools for students, researchers and other professionals in the ICT and power system domain. Transient Control in Microgrids: TCMG Success Story

User project TCMG developed a new optimisation method for transient control of networks with a large amount of photovoltaics (PV). Tested at the NSGL facility of SINTEF, the method makes it possible to control all inverters for the PV-system simultaneously. Read more...

Enhancing the Renewable Energy Hosting Capacity of Distribution Networks: HOLISTICA Success Story

Coordinated voltage control concepts can delay expensive and long-term grid reinforcement while increasing the distributed generation hosting capacity of electric distribution networks. Networked Feedback Control of DER for Real-Time Voltage Regulation: TEAM-VAR2 Success Story

At the SYSLAB facility of DTU, user project TEAM-VAR2 experimentally analysed whether networked control approaches, which use the reactive power capabilities of inverters in distribution grids, are practically able to solve over- and under-voltage problems. Read more...

Integration of Solar PV Parks in the Power Network of Cyprus: CYPRESS Success Story

User group CYPRESS studied the impact and the interactions that a PV system has with a real part of the Cyprus grid under different operational challenges. Their real-time simulation tests were performed at the SmartEST Lab of Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT). Read more...

Efficiency Testing of PV Battery Hybrid System:
ICVP Success Story

The ICVP user project dealt with efficiency tests of PV battery hybrid system. The project applied for the ERIGrid lab access in order to carry out round-robin testing of the efficiency measurement between AIT and AIST in Japan. Read more...

Outcomes of the ERIGrid/CINELDI Workshop
"Smart Grid Laboratory Developments"

On 28-29 October 2019, ERIGrid organised a joint workshop “Smart Grid Laboratory Developments” together with the Centre for Intelligent Electricity Distribution (CINELDI) and SINTEF.
Held at the premises of SINTEF in Trondheim (NO), the workshop facilitated knowledge exchange on smart grid laboratory activities with a special focus on co-simulation and hardware-in-the-loop simulation and dissemination of results from ERIGrid Joint Research Activities. Read more...
