Governor Cuomo Announces $10.4 Million for Long Island Shellfish Restoration Project

On September 6th, 2017 Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the beginning of the Long Island Shellfish Restoration Project. This project aims to plant millions of clams and oysters in five targeted areas around Long Island, including Shinnecock Bay. ShiRP's Dr. Chris Gobler worked with the Governor and his staff to devise the Long Island Shellfish Restoration Program. Blue Island Oyster Festival:
All shells donated to ShiRP

This Saturday, September 9th, every oyster & clam consumed at the Blue Island Oyster Festival will be recycled to the Shinnecock Bay Restoration Program! We are very excited to partner with Blue Island Oysters to collect this shell, which will be used to restore habitat and shellfish to the bay.  For tickets and more information click below.

NYSDEC Hosts Public Hearing on Atlantic Menhaden Management: Tuesday, Sept. 12

A pre-event discussion will be hosted by Pew Charitable Trusts and ShiRP's Institute for Ocean Conservation Science. All are welcome.
