Moon Festival at the Great Wall
We are going to host the annual Mid-Autumn Harvest Feast and a reprise at the Brickyard on 13 and 14 September this year. Buffet with traditional Chinese dishes will be served from 18:00 each night. We’ll also have live folk music. Advanced payment is required. See the menu and make a reservation.

Guess Who Came to the Brickyard?
Mathematician Shing-Tung Yau, a winner of the Fields Medal in 1982 and Harvard Professor since 1987, was brought to the Brickyard by the Beijing Government. Randhir and our team were honored to host his visit in our garden.

Danger of Over Development
Brickyard partners Liang Tang and Jim Spear were honored to attend the Great Wall Culture International Forum recently. Jim spoke about Mutianyu Great Wall as one of the top tourism destinations in the world, what makes this area special, and the dangers it faces from unsustainable over-development. WorldStrides operates summer camps for kids in China with counselors drawn mainly from the Ivy League and other top universities in the USA. They treated their counselors to a Great Wall visit with a lunch stop at the Brickyard where Jim spent time answering their questions about rural China.

Spear Designs’ collaborator Wenkai Zhong authored a case study about their joint project, Bailixiangju Resort, published in Time + Architecture, China’s top journal in the field.
