Costume Partner’s Table: This Saturday 28 October our partners Jim & Liang will host a fireside Brickyard Halloween dinner with a special menu created by Chef Randhir. Benjamin Plafker will play guitar and sing during the evening. We will offer a free pass to a future Partner’s Table to the guest at table whose costume is selected best by our staff. Artist in Residence
Meet Rhea Cutillo, our artist in residence for October-November, pictured here in our artist residence studio with a painting she has created. Rhea is based in Los Angeles and her next stop will be a residency in New Zealand. You can meet her and see her work for the next four Saturdays though 18 November at the Brickyard from 14:00-17:00.

Thanksgiving Coming!
American Thanksgiving that is, one of our favorite holidays. We serve a traditional sit-down turkey feast with all the trimmings plus a huge dessert spread and live jazz. Thanksgiving is Thursday 23 November and we will have a Reprise for those who can’t get away during the week on Saturday 25 November. Reservations required, special packages, special pricing for students, and a subsidized schoolbus to help guests without cars come out and share the holiday. Learn more.

Orchard Update
After six years our Orchard project in nearby Tianxianyu Village has finally obtained all the approvals needed to build out 11 homesites, 5 row houses, and an underground product development center with most of the land reserved for the orchards. We’ve graded the access roads throughout the property and are in the middle of raising retaining walls. We do still have a few units that haven’t been pre-sold so if you’re looking for a country home with truly incredible views and custom design please email us at
Yoga for Brickyard Managers
Ever wonder how our team can stay so cool and collected? Randhir leads group exercises every day. Here are some of our managers Josh, Nellie, Christina, and Randhir as well as intern Corey Bither joining guests to practice yoga with our regular instructor. Join us in Spring and Fall for Sunday morning yoga, no charge for lodging guests.

Sustainability in Action
Jim & Liang were invited to inspect upscale pensions in the mountains near Tonglu (an amazing county between Hangzhou and Qiandaohu) as part of a conference on rural tourism last week. Jim spoke in a dialog session and was appointed as a researcher in a new institute for studying how to preserve and use China’s heritage preserved in villages through tourism. in action program.
