Brickyard Earns Travelers’ Choice Award Again

We are honored, proud of our whole team, and appreciate the support from our guests that has made us the Number 1 out of 1,284 inns in Beijing and Number 12 in all of China. We will try very hard to live up to the high expectations that recognition like this creates.

2017 Fellowships

We have expanded our Schoolhouse Fellowship program by making a Beigou Village house available for fellows. This year’s first resident artist, Jamie (pictured here), has just arrived for her month. Stay tuned for a program on Saturday 18 March. Our second artist will arrive on 1 April. His name is Ernesto Bautista, hailing from El Salvador and he will be working on a video and will stage a performance piece using fire as his medium.

Spring Upgrades around the Brickyard

Here’s a shot of new standing seam metal roofing that we’ve just installed in public areas and deluxe queen rooms. We’ll continue the re-roofing in phases over the next year and will also install new ceilings and room lighting. Now that Spring is sprung we’re also repairing walkways and outdoor lighting and repainting outdoors -- we’ll endeavor not to inconvenience guests with these works.

Partying Enroute to to a Party at the Brickyard

These women staged a lovely send-off for a friend departing Beijing. The private setting was our rooftop sky terrace as the sun set with drinks, dinner, and a ceremonial bra burning (yes). We do our best to help stage special experiences.

The Whole Story

Gail Zohar of Beijing’s FM Lifestyles interviewed Jim Spear in English and then presented his words to her listeners in two programs. You can listen to the story and read illustrated articles on line. Part 1 and Part 2

COMING UP: Qingming is next month from 4/5 to 4/8. We’ll have kite making, Xiaolumian will open up for Spring season, and lots more. Come share your holiday with us! Learn more.

Cooking with Randhir

Spring is the season for Chun Bing, a feast with hot-off-the-griddle crepes with spreads and fillings rolled up like a burrito. See how we have it at home and try it yourself

Mystery House

Rafael Ratzel won a free night in Grandma’s Place and Christmas Eve dinner in our last contest. The first reader to identify the home pictured above will win an Rmb 388 credit toward a stay in any Home or room at the Brickyard. Good luck!
