2:01:39?? That's a solid half marathon!
Check out what's happening this month at RaceRaves:
Best Bets for Boston Marathon Qualifying (BQ) Races
For any runner who's ever conquered the marathon distance, qualifying for Boston is the Holy Grail. And for good reason—Boston's strict qualifying standards and perennial popularity make it increasingly difficult to earn a spot in the annual Patriots' Day field. As Marathon Monday registration shifts into high gear this week, we demystify Boston's wicked hahd qualifying process and profile the top BQ races in North America for any season.
Introducing Coach Bette!
One of our favorite things about RaceRaves is the breadth of thoughtful runner voices on the site. This month, we’re thrilled to introduce you to one of those voices. In her new monthly column "Run, Reflect, Repeat," RRCA Certified Coach Bette Hagerty shares her (a)musings, triumphs, frustrations and observations from a life in running. Check it out and help us welcome her to the RaceRaves family!
The GOAT at the top of the mountain
In a career of transcendent performances, Eliud Kipchoge added yet another to his résumé on Sunday. Kipchoge, widely considered the greatest marathoner of all time, smashed the world record by 78 seconds in Berlin, finishing in a head-spinning (and quad-aching) time of 2:01:39 to capture his 10th win in 11 career marathons. Before the race, Scott Cacciola of The New York Times did what Kipchoge's competition could not, as he caught up with Kenya's joyful and soft-spoken champion.
