October Updates 2021
Craig Potton Gallery, along with most of New Zealand, is currently operating under Level 2 conditions as per Government instruction. Although we are experiencing some understandable delays with some of our Auckland suppliers we still endeavour to have any orders fulfilled as soon as possible. Holly Zandbergen's magnificent oil paintings will once again be gracing our gallery walls, alongside Craig Potton's stunning photography, from September 24 to October 18, 2021.

In pursuit of his photography Craig has tramped and climbed extensively in New Zealand, its sub-Antarctic Islands, the Dry Valleys of Antarctica, the Nepal Himalaya, Poland, India and Iceland. For more than four decades he has documented the New Zealand wilderness, exploring relationships between the concept of artistic beauty and wilderness in the natural world.

Craig started Craig Potton Publishing in 1987 and has had many of his own titles published, including New Zealand Aotearoa, Classic Walks of New Zealand, The Nature of Things, Moment and Memory, Offerings from Nepal and Here on Earth were all Montana New Zealand Book Award finalists in their publication year. He has also produced a major work New Zealand ‘s Wilderness Heritage and a large scale art book of his landscape photography, New Zealand, among many other titles.

'Storm Light, Ocean' Diptych - Medium unframed print 1180mm x 520mm $1400
Craig's newest diptych, 'Storm Light, Ocean' will be making its way to 'The Path' exhibition being held at  Te Whare Toi o Heretaungaat Hastings City Art Gallery at the end of the year.  The exhibition is a celebration of the dual-path that surfing and creativity have played in an artist's life. Visual artists will be represented from all over Aotearoa New Zealand alongside writers, documentary producers and performance artists.

.But before we send Craig's beautiful print away it will be available to view, and order, at 255 Hardy Street, until November 14.

Nelson Arts Festival have proudly announced the return of the Nelson CBD's hugely successful 'Night Vision' and, in conjunction with this, Craig Potton Gallery will be hosting an album release gig and exhibition with Ben Dixon entitled, 'The End'
 Thursday, October, 21.


"Spring. Daylight Savings. Arts Festival. Opening night. What better way to celebrate than watching the city unfurl after dark?"

Inspired by the international phenomenon White Night (Nuit Blanc), our city will come alive with art exhibitions and installations, performances and interactive events, all happening in one energetic night.
