Academy Award-winning film director, writer and producer, Andrew Adamson - director of the Shrek movies, The Chronicles of Narnia, Mr. Pip, and Curious George - recently popped into the gallery to say hi! Andrew is working with Craig's cousin, Gary Baseman, who has an exhibition in New Zealand booked for September 2021. Gary has plans to show at Nelsons Suter Art Gallery and will be doing some collaborative works with Craig. Craig worked with Andrew on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.
Te Tai o Poutini Art Awards 2020
Craig travelled to the West Coast this weekend to be a guest judge at the Te Tai o Poutini Art Awards. The event is a regional art competition that showcases and supports local artists and celebrates excellence in West Coast visual arts.

"Art is significant in a community and these people (entrants) have virtually laid out their souls to us," - Craig Potton

While there, Craig and Bella met up with the immensely talented Marlon Williams - whose mother, Jennifer Rendall, created the 2020 Supreme Award-winning piece with her entry entitled, 'Te Nehenehe Kahurangi (The Blue Forest)'. Marlon's CDs are available for purchase in our gallery and we are excited to see him perform in Nelson in March 2021!
Arts Foundation NZ
The Suter Art Gallery Te Aratoi o Whakatu recently hosted the Arts Foundation NZ, 'All in for Arts'.  Craig spoke alongside jeweller, 2002 Arts Foundation Laureate, and cousin, Warwick Freeman.

Attendees were able to hear stories about the impact the arts are having on everyday life in Whakatū Nelson and illuminate the value of the arts to Aotearoa New Zealand.

Some of Warwick Freeman's work is available at Craig Potton Gallery and through our online store.
