The Third Sunday after the Epiphany

Our LORD Reveals Himself By Fulfilling Scripture

Jesus reveals himself as the Anointed one with the Father’s authority to proclaim himself as fulfillment of prophecy. The Word made flesh points to the Word and boldly proclaims, “Fulfillment.” This bold proclamation carries joy to the very heart of the body of Christ and emboldens its members to proclaim the same.

Here is God's Word that teaches us that beautiful truth:
Isaiah 61:1-6
1 Corinthians 12:12-21, 26-27
Luke 4:14-21

"I rejoiced with those who said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the LORD.'" (Psalm 122:1) God-willing, I will see you and worship with you this coming Sunday or Monday.

Bible Study: Habakkuk

Although written in the 7th century B.C., the Old Testament book of Habakkuk is just as relevant now as it was then.

This time around, the Bible study is formatted as a single booklet so that you can more easily share it with others. You can download it here or pick up a paper copy at church.

The Adult Bible study meets at 9:15 am in the Fellowship Hall. All are invited and welcomed to attend.

MLC Wind Symphony

This week, the Wind Symphony of Martin Luther College asked if they could host a concert for us at our church on Wednesday, May 22 at 7:00 pm. This is a group of about 50-55 college students studying to be pastors, teachers, or staff ministers for our national church body, the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). Here is a link to one of their performances to preview the group: https://www.facebook.com/mlcwels/videos/the-mlc-wind-symphony-is-privileged-to-perform-a-demo-concert-with-the-students-/10155484139166723/

We are being asked to provide a supper that night, lunch the following day, and lodging on Wednesday night for the group with families from our congregation. This would be a sizable undertaking for our congregation. The concert date is several months away, but they would like an answer before the end of January to finalize their touring schedule.

A major consideration in agreeing to having them come to Light of the Valley is the projected attendance to support the event. So, please follow this link to answer the survey question to help make this decision.
