Message from the Alumni and Community Relations office
Happy November everyone!  The weather is getting cooler and the days are getting shorter, but somehow our office is still buzzing with activity, even AFTER hosting our first Homecoming Weekend.

Our celebrations this fall have allowed us the opportunity to reconnect with Alumni around the world.  We are constantly reminded of how exceptional our grads truly are: they publish books, receive Governor General History Awards, have their debut music single reach Platinum in Canada, are recognized among the country's Top 100 Most Powerful Women, or become a federal cabinet minister -
we celebrate you!

October brought us news of Lakehead's ranking as first in Canada for research in the undergraduate research category by Re$earch Infosource.  In the annual Maclean's University rankings, we placed among Canada's Top 10 of primarily undergraduate universities in Canada, and in second in the category of Scholarships & Bursaries.  We are proud to be one of the best places in the country to pursue postsecondary education, and we are most proud of what our graduates contribute to their communities and beyond.

As we draw closer to the end of 2015 we are taking the time to reflect on our achievements over the past year, culminating into our Report to the Community event.  We invite you to learn more about our achievements over the past 12 months and encourage you to keep sharing your unconventional stories with us.  Go Wolves Go!

Hayden Gorman:  "What I did this Summer"

With the arrival of fall comes the arrival of new and returning students. Their books are bought, their supplies are packed, and the campus buzzes with activity once again.
Returning to school also means sharing fun highlights of the past summer with friends. For Hayden Gorman – a second-year outdoor recreation/concurrent education student – this meant being surrounded by the best-of-the-best in international sport at the Toronto 2015 Pan-Am and ParaPan Am Games.

TBT Engineering Creates a Brighter
Future for Engineering students

With the same spirit and drive that has made TBT Engineering a leading force in the business sector, Rob and Liana Frenette continue to demonstrate a commitment to Lakehead University through the establishment of a graduate level scholarship in civil engineering.  “Having 50 years of Lakehead University in Northwestern Ontario has allowed numerous students to attend university.  Without an engineering program in the region, TBT Engineering would not have been able to achieve all we have as a Northwestern Ontario business.”

  What's New with LUSU
    (Lakehead University Student Union)

Over the past four months, the Lakehead University Student Union offices have been an exceedingly busy place with everything from a new rebranding project to the asbestos problems on campus being tackled. Many students don’t realize that LUSU stays fully operational over the summer months and, as a result, all of the big events they may have been a party to get overlooked.
The Argus recently sat down with LUSU President Roman Jakubowski to recap those missed events.  Read more
