Seaton, Cornwall - October 2015
Ninth Annual Partners' Meeting
The Programme's ninth Annual Partner's Meeting took place on the 15th of October at Teignbridge District Council's offices in Newton Abbot.

The day was a great success, with over 50 representatives from our partner organisations joining us for some very interesting and informative presentations.

We'd like to thank everyone who attended the meeting for their continued support of the Programme and the speakers for their excellent contributions to the day.

Presentations included 'Depth estimation using Video Cameras in the South West', 'Winter 2013/2014 Storms - 1 Year Later' and 'Bathymetric Surveys of the South Cornwall Coast'

If you we're unable to join us for the meeting or if you'd like another look at the presentations they are all available from our website
Autumn Interim Beach Surveys
This autumn's topographic beach surveys are well underway along the whole South West coast. The PCO team have been out surveying and have already completed surveys for their area. The team were given a helping hand by Josh Webborn from Plymouth University, who is on placement with PCO.
Beaches Showing Recovery
Analysis of this year's autumn surveys has shown that beaches in the South West are recovering since the winter 2013/2014 storms. For more information take a look at  Mark Wiggins' presentation 'Winter 2013/2014 Storms - 1 Year Later'. The Western Morning News also featured an  article  about the recovery.

News from the PCO across the South West
South Devon & Dorset

Our tide gauge on Teignmouth Pier has been out of service since the winter 2013/2014 storms damaged the pier and left the gauge without power. We have therefore moved the gauge to Exmouth where it has been in place since the end of September. The gauge is actively broadcasting data to the website in real-time.
Cornwall & Isles of Scilly

Our multi-beam bathymetric survey of the area between Rame Head and St. Austell has been completed. Data was collected in partnership with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency's Civil Hydrography Programme and will be available to download from the website once quality checks have been completed.
North Devon, Somerset &
the Severn Estuary

LiDAR flying season has started along the whole of the south west coast. We've already captured a large part of the North Devon and Somerset area and preliminary data has been delivered to PCO.
