Sambhali Trust in February 2021
Dear friends and supporters of Sambhali,

We hope you are all safe and fine.

Nowadays, it has been one year since the first big peak of the pandemic and the adaption to a “new normal“.
Here in Jodhpur, we first realized the extent of the virus when we had to cancel our International Women‘s Day Rallye last March. Who would have thought that this was only the beginning and that we still won’t be able to march together a year later?
Luckily, worldwide vaccinations give us a big glimpse of hope. Maybe we can welcome you in Jodhpur soon again and even celebrate the International Day of Women 2022 together!
Nirbhaya Project
Our Nirbhaya Team continues to reach out to Jodhpur‘s inhabitants and distribute flyers with the help of our Office staff. Besides taking care of active cases and calls through the HelpLine, the main team conducts informative workshops in our Women Empowerment Centers. The participants are grateful for the information and legal & psychological assistance. They feel safe in their center‘s environment and don’t hesitate to share their experiences to receive optimistic advices.
Boarding Homes
All girls at both Laadli & Sheerni Boarding Home are well and feel safe in their environments. The older girls who live at Sheerni are all attending school and feel good about it. They work hard and are happy to revise their syllabus in a ‘normal’ way. Our younger girls at Laadli are still at the Girls Home and focus on their home school learning and all classes with the tutors. The computer classes will be continued but for now, we paused the drama lessons. All girls learned a lot and now like to practice everything they know with each other in their free time.
Besides school, homework and daily chores, the girls at Sheerni enjoy embroidery and to be creative by stitching & sewing own small pieces.
Empowerment Centers
This month, our EC tutors have participated in many workshops and worked hard on their writing skills for the monthly reports. Our Educational Head Rajshree Rathore and Vocational Head Rashi Kawatra helped the tutors and discussed their concerns and open questions.
Fortunately, all our Empowerment Centers are progressing well and are following the yearly syllabus & all mandatory hygiene guidelines. Therefore, we were able to increase the timings again by adding half an hour.
Rashi Kawatra visited a few centers with one of our Trustees, Mukta Kumari, to have a look at the women‘s embroideries and other work pieces. The girls & women were happy about the visits and interaction.
Sambhali Boutique & Graduates
Although our Boutique in town is still closed since last March, our Graduates at Sambhali HQ are constantly working on new items and creations. They are always very happy to receive national and international orders and at this time need your support more than ever. Do you wish to feel closer to Sambhali and our participants or would like to have a fresh new Indian piece in your wardrobe? Feel free to contact Rashi Kawatra, our Boutique Director at boutique@sambhali.org - the Graduates will be more than grateful. Please check out our social media regular updates on our Boutique website: Sambhali Boutique
Celebrating our Trustees
We are so proud that two of our dear Trustees have been honored this month.
Mukta Kumari has received the Nari Shakti Samman Award 2021 by the Aamir Khan Event Company. Secondly, Virendra Singh Chouhan was cherished by the Municipal Board for working very hard during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Thank you both for always supporting Sambhali Trust and all the work you are doing!
Now we wish you a beautiful International Women‘s Day and month of March.
Stay safe and take care.
