Why Support HB 216 and #DebtFreeJustice?
Check out this great article in Big Easy Magazine about HB 216 and Ubuntu's #DebtFreeJustice campaign HERE.

From the article:

“Black youth are over-represented at every stage of the juvenile justice system. Fees, costs and taxes have a disproportionate impact on Black youth and their families,” said Ernest Johnson.

Hundreds of families are impacted by these fees annually. “Administrative fees harm children and families. They are a barrier to successful reentry and counterproductive to the interests of children, families and local jurisprudence,” Johnson continued.

HB 216 Should Be Heard in Committee This Week!
The administrative burden of fees costs courts more than they could ever hope to gain. Juvenile fees, costs, and taxes don’t make sense. #DebtFreeJustice does. Tell your legislators to support HB 216.
