Hi! You are receiving this email because you signed up to learn more about the new microblogging project I've been working on. You probably found the link on my blog,

For over a year, I've been working on a brand new social network based on indie microblogs and the open web. It's the most ambitious platform I've ever built, and today I want to give you a sneak peek of what it looks like.

I took inspiration from blogs and custom domains where you can control your own content. Then I captured the timeline user experience and ease of use of modern social networks, applying it to independent short-form writing.

The result is a new platform that is equal parts social network and publishing platform. I call it

Here's what the iPhone app looks like:

Microblog posts are from independent sites, pulled together in one place via RSS so that they can be browsed and discussed. But each post still lives at (and links back to) the author's web site.

In addition to the iPhone app and API, I've expanded the web platform so that it can host your microblog, complete with themes and custom domains. It has a Markdown-based publishing interface built on top of Jekyll. There's also a cross-posting feature with smart truncation, WordPress support, and more.
In a few weeks, I'll be sending one more email with the official beta, and details on how you can reserve your username. I plan to use Kickstarter to slowly roll out You can hear more about this idea on episode 9 of my short podcast Timetable.
