Message from Our Ashram: Guru Purnima
Guru Purnima is a day dedicated to the Gurus, whose compassion and teachings have led human beings toward knowledge and truth. It is a day to remember the eternal teachings of the Gurus, to feel their ceaseless love and their blessings.

It is only through the grace of the Guru one gets wisdom and balance in life. Guru guides us towards our identity, to the fundamental questions of – “who am I?” and “what is my goal?” It takes us from darkness to light, and from around us to within us and to the ultimate freedom.

Guru Purnima is the day for each disciple to review one’s life and progress through introspection and devotion and make a
fresh resolve to invigorate the efforts for spiritual growth.

Guru Purnima, which occurs on a full moon day in the month of Ashadha (June- July), is also celebrated as the birthday of Maharshi Vyasa, a great master of mankind, who is remembered for the treasure of wisdom he preserved by editing the Vedas and authoring countless scriptures, including the Bhagavad Gita.

This year, Guru Purnima is on 9 July.

Let the light of this full moon day be always in us and lead us to Truth, and freedom.
Ashram Committee Update

Work is in full swing with the Australian Kriya Yoga Association's plans to expand our Ashram and programs!

Four new sub-committees have been established through the loving help and contribution of committed volunteers. Properties are being searched, new courses are being designed, and new social media channels are being set up.

We are also preparing an application to the Australian Tax Office to allow donations made to support the Kriya Yoga Ashram to be tax deductible.

It’s an exciting time - with great energy, activity and commitment.  Please email auskriyayoga@yahoo.com if you’d like to join one of the sub-committees!

Fundraiser Evening:
We Need Your Support

To raise funds for our Ashram, an Evening of Music and Dance will be held on Saturday 15 July at 6:00pm in Sydney. This is for one night only!

Tickets are only $25, including supper and Divine performances of Sanskrit chanting by Swami Sarvatmananda and traditional Indian dance by internationally acclaimed artists (and Kriyavans) Monica Singh, Helena Joshi and Aruna Pavithran. All are welcome.
Our goal is to raise $10k. Tickets are selling, but we have a long way to go before reaching this goal. We now need your generous support to make this event a success.

There are four ways you can help:
1.    Buy tickets - either online (use button below), at the door or from a committee member
2.    Make a donation - either use the "Donate Now" button below or donate into the Kriya bank account (use reference "Dance+Your Name")
3.    Tell your friends and family about the event - word-of-mouth works best!
4.    Share a post about the event on Facebook - even if you don’t live in Sydney
Kriya Teachings in Sydney

On 10 June 2017, 21 seekers were initiated into Kriya Yoga at the Sydney initiations held at the Baden Powell Scout Centre as part of a three-day program. One initiate travelled from New Zealand to participate.

The program was facilitated by our beloved teachers Swami Gurupriyananda and Swami Sarvatmananda. Under the guidance of our teachers and in the presence of our beloved Gurus and Masters, existing initiates and new initiates joined together in a beautiful gathering of spiritual cleansing, learning and participation. We warmly welcome all the new initiates.
Retreat with Paramahamsa Prajnanananda , April 2017
On 24-28 April, about 120 Kriyavans were blessed to be in the divine presence of our beloved Guru Paramahamsa Prajnanananda at a Silent Kriya Yoga Residential Retreat in Sydney at the peaceful Baden Powell Scout Centre. Swami Gurupriyananda and Swami Sarvatmananda assisted Baba by conducting guided meditations and a special ritual.

The theme of "Anger" was explored during the five days. Prajnananandaji shared invaluable wisdom about the root cause of anger and also provided some practical ways to help us manage anger. For example, if we are irritated, drink water or walk in fresh air or practice pranayama. If someone else gets angry, change the topic or go to the restroom. The inspiring discourses encouraged participants to cultivate love, understanding, forgiveness and compassion.
