April is Poetry Month !   You can pick up a free raffle ticket for a poetry basket just by reciting or reading aloud a poem in the library. Drawing for raffle baskets will be on Sunday, April 30.

Adult Programs

Meditation for Healthy Living
Wednesday, April 5 at 6:00 pm at Foster Public Library.  Dr. Alan Post will discuss how to use a simple meditation technique to relieve stress and take strides toward a healthy life. Dr. Post is a contributing author to, "Meditation as Medication for the Soul" by Rajinder Singh.
 
Cookbook Club
Thursday, April 6 at 6:00 pm at Foster Public Library.  The cooking theme for April is Appetizers and Hors d'oeuvres of your choice.  You will find inspiring cookbooks and cooking magazines on the library shelves at Foster and Tyler, or use our computers to go online for a recipe. Each cook brings a small sample to share with the group.  New cooks welcome!
 
Needle Felting  
Saturday, April 8, 1 p.m., at Tyler Free Library
The Needle Felting group is getting ready for spring with a special project: eggs in a nest.  We will use natural, dyed wool to make a charming creation.  Karen Mueller shows us the technique. Supplies provided for a $5 materials fee or a donation of nonperishable food for the Foster food pantry.
 
Book Club
Monday, April 10 at 6:15 pm at Tyler Free Library
This month's selection is Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. Join us the second Monday of each month as we discuss our book and enjoy lively conversation and refreshments. New members are welcome.  Call either library to reserve a book.
 
Quilling and Mixed Media Art Workshop
Saturday, April 22 at 1:00 p.m. Foster Public Library
All are welcome to try "Quilling"  and explore your creative side at a special art workshop. Quilling or paper filigree is an art form using strips of paper that are rolled, shaped and glued together to make creative designs.  Registration recommended as space is limited. Recommended for all; Children under 6 should be accompanied by an adult who can assist them with the projects.

Wednesday, April 26 at 6:30 pm at Foster Public Library.  Identity theft is a concern for all  and Meghan Martinez, Cyber Terrorism Program Manager for the Rhode Island State Police Computer Crimes Unit, offers us some help.  She will speak on ways to identify possible threats to your identity and how to safe guard your personal information. For adults and teens.  Registration recommended; call 397-7930 or 397-4801.
 
Card Making
Saturday, April 29, 1:00 to 3:00 pm, at  Foster Public Library.  Learn how to make a gift card by hand using special papers and embossing tools provided by the workshop leaders, Sharon and Lois. Recommended for adults, teens and school-age children accompanied by an adult.  You will take home three cards with envelopes. Suggested donation of $5 for materials or a donation of non perishable food items to the Foster Food Pantry.
 
Tyler Free Library's Wednesday Knitting Group
The group meets at 6:00 pm at Tyler. Knitting-- there has never been a better time to re-visit knitting or get started learning to knit for the first time. For more information about the Wednesday Knitting Group at Tyler, call 397-7930.  New members welcome.  Katherine and Deb offer basic instruction when you call ahead.

Transportation on Bus 5 will be provided on Thursdays from Paine School to Foster Center Library (with note from parent), light snack provided. Please call the library or drop in to register your child for all After School Programs.

Wednesdays After School: The Theater Group

Join Mrs. Murphy for an afternoon of theatrical fun! Learn improv, play games and learn acting techniques. There will be a special performance on the last day.

Libraries of Foster Board of Trustees Meeting on Tuesday, April 11 at 6:30 pm; open to the public at the Eddy Building, Foster Center.
 
The Friends of The Libraries of Foster is meeting on Monday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Tyler Free Library.  There will be light refreshments. All are welcome at the meeting to plan spring events.  Save the Date for the Spring Contra Dance on Saturday, June 3 at 7 p.m. Moosup Valley Grange.
