The Play Room: A New Place to Wait

The New Hope playroom is a bright, friendly place for children to play and begin to adjust before they begin to go through our system.
Over the last 13 years, more than 5,000 children have entered New Hope and began their journey of healing by spending time in this very room. Our many thanks to all of those who painted, donated toys and books, and have volunteered their time to play or sit with the children who come here for services.

Here are a couple of pictures of the New Hope playroom before the remodel.

"I'm the waiting room...the way station kids rest in before the real help and healing begins. I'm just a small piece in the big puzzle." ~The Playroom

Over the last few months, we here at New Hope have been in the process of
up-dating this space to accommodate the needs of the diversified ages of children that we see.  With the assistance of Wendy Tittsworth of Just So Decorating a design plan was created (Thanks Ms. Wendy for our new theme) and with grant funds from Ronald McDonald Charities, and from Alcoa Walmart, the transformation of the playroom  began.
,
Volunteer painters from K12, Maryville College, and Woodmen of the World gave their time and energy to refresh the space with a new coat of paint.  Woodmen of the World also donated a Smart TV as a way for pre-teens and teenagers to feel more included in a space that they might see as "just for kids."
We're going to miss our old playroom that holds thirteen years worth of memories, but we are excited to expand ourselves to fit the diverse group of kids that we host. Come check out our woodland critters, stress-relieving bean bag chairs, and fun Smart TV!
