Welcome to the first newsletter of the Centre for Human Rights for 2015. This newsletter provides an overview of the Centre's most recent activities, projects and programmes. For a full overview of our activities, please visit the Centre's website.

24th AFRICAN HUMAN RIGHTS MOOT COURT COMPETITION

The 24th African Human Rights Moot Court Competition will be held from 5  to 10 October 2015 at the University of Zambia.

Students, academics and judges from all over Africa are invited to participate.

All law faculties in Africa are invited to send one faculty representative who works in the field of human rights (dean or another lecturer) who will serve as a judge in the preliminary rounds, and two undergraduate students (preferably one man and one woman) who constitute the team that represents its university at the Moot Court.

The Centre for Human Rights at the Faculty of Law is very fortunate to be hosting the renowned visiting scholar Prof Rebecca Cook at the University of Pretoria. She will teach on various Master's programmes at the Centre for Human Rights.

The latest edition of the African Human Rights Law Journal (AHRLJ Volume 1 No 2 2014 is now available on the Open Access Journal's website. All the previous editions are also available on the AHRLJ website.

The Centre for Human Rights (CHR), together with the Centre for Applied Legal Studies (CALS), hosted an Africa regional consultation on National Action Plans (NAPs) for business and human rights.
