Living Temples of God

Why are your children so precious? Is it because they look like you? Is it because they have characteristics and mannerisms like you? Maybe they are so precious because you took care of them from birth and taught them so many things?
Children are precious to parents. They are even more precious to God. He formed them in the womb. He gave them all their gifts and abilities. He made them his own by sending his Son to die on the cross to pay for their sins. So God reminds us that our children are special, “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and the God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?” (1 Corinthians 3:16). God made your child his temple through baptism. The Holy Spirit put the new person in their hearts. Now as God’s living temples, we need to help our children to care for their bodies and their souls.
We help our children live for God at school through hearing and learning his Word. You can help your child by having devotions and Christian discipline at home. We do this when we show our children their sin through God’s Law. By having them confess their sins, we prepare them for the sweet news of the Gospel. That calming message of peace through forgiveness in Jesus feeds the new person living in them. They are then motivated to love God and others because God first loved them. Living temples of God is what makes our children so precious. God help us to lead them on the path that leads to heaven!

Softball Tournament

Here is the bracket for the softball tournament this weekend. First game is at 8:30 am against St. John Burlington on field 1.

KLA took 2nd Place in the softball tournament this past Saturday.  KLA defeated St. John's, Burlington in the first game 2-1.  In the 2nd game, KLA lost to the WLS's 7th & 8th Grade team 7-3.  This loss put them into the losers bracket.  In their 3rd game they defeated WLS's 5th & 6th Grade team 17-0.  Their 4th game was against Trinity, Caledonia, who they defeated 5-2.  They then played Faith, Antioch and won 11-2.  That victory set up a rematch with WLS's 7th & 8th graders.  After a full day of softball that started cold and windy and ended as a hot and windy day, KLA lost that last game 16-2.

All 9 players were from Bethany and since there were 9 players, there were no subs.  They started play at 8:30 and outside of a few minutes rest between games, they played 6 straight games that finally ended around 3:30.

Congratulations again to the KLA softball team for their second place finish.
