Keeping Up
Does your child bring home a lot of homework that takes more than an hour to finish? Does he get late slips several times a week? Is she even sure of her assignments? Why does it seem that several of his classmates never seem to bring home more than one book? How are we as parents and teachers able to help your child become more responsible in completing homework assignments on time?
First and foremost, we need to teach your child that school work is important now to prepare them for success in high school and later in life. We need to encourage them to be faithful because God tells us in Ecclesiastes 9:10, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.” Also, in Colossians 3:23 he reiterates this encouragement, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Out of thanks for Jesus suffering, death, and resurrection for us, we do our daily work for him and others. Our children becoming the best students they can be is their way thanking Jesus for all his blessings.
If your child is having trouble with completing assignments, then require him to bring home his assignment notebook each night. Ask the teacher to check off the assignments that were completed in school. In addition, you can check as often as you want by logging into PowerSchool and looking up the grades for the assignments. This helps to reinforce to your child that keeping up with good grades is important to you. Some children struggle with concentration. Ask the teacher to help your child concentrate by having study time without distractions in the classroom, Also, ask to put your child toward the front of the class. If the homework is rather difficult for your child, we have extended learning teachers that can assist with them if space is available in their schedule. Finally, ask the teacher if your child can stay after school once or twice a week until they understand their school work.
By having a routine at home to finish schoolwork really helps your child keep up. Check the assignment notebook each night. By providing a set study time, this trains children to be organized and gives them time to complete their work each day. Together, student, parent, and teacher can all play an important part in keeping up with homework. Growing up is a challenge. Being responsible doesn’t just happen. May God help us raise your child to his glory!

Due to limited fan attendance and the gym restrictions, we will not be offering concessions at this time for home basketball games. We had hoped for limited concessions to be available, but it doesn't seem to be feasible at this time. If you wish to help out with your child's team, you can speak to their coaches about providing a game snack/drink for before or after games.

Winter Gear
With winter and cold weather present please remember to send hat, ear muffs, scarves, mittens, snow pants, boots, and gloves to school with your child/ren. When it starts to snow please remember that they will also need winter boots and snow pants. We try to get the children outside as much as we possibly can. If your child/ren do not come to school with the appropriate gear they will stay inside for recess. If they do not have any of these items when they come to school.; they will not be allowed to play in the snow that day. Because we do not want them in wet clothes for the rest of the day. Thank you.
