Victorious in Christ!

Welcome back everyone! The school was quiet yet busy this summer. Very few people were in the building most days, yet the workers who were here gave our building a tremendous make-over. New floor tiles, new wall colors, and asbestos abatement all happened in a span of six busy weeks. For a while, I wondered if we would ever get the classrooms in order.  Yet here we are, thanks to many volunteers, enjoying the first day of school for the 99th time in our school’s history.

Our theme this year is “Victorious in Christ.” Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:15-58, “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” Jesus has defeated sin, death, and the power of the devil so that we might be his own and live for him in his kingdom. Our Savior’s victory makes us confident that we are doing absolutely the right thing in teaching our children here at Bethany Lutheran School.

There are those who say we cannot offer all the programs that are in the public schools. While this may be true in some respects, we believe that we offer much more. We teach the S.T.E.M. program to each child through Project Lead the Way. Our children excel in music both instrumentally and vocally. The individual attention that the children receive from teachers who truly care about them lets our children know they are special in God’s eyes. This individual attention is one reason why our students achieve at a high level and are so successful in high school.

Bethany provides a moral foundation for our students that is the guiding light in all our programs. The foundation of Christ and his work of redemption will assure your child of having a purpose in all that your child does now and in the future. What price can you place on an education that lasts forever? What better guarantee can you get?

God’s Word is at the heart of our teaching, our disciplining, and activities. That powerful Word changes hearts through the working of the Holy Spirit. What value is Christian training at Bethany? It is priceless. Welcome to Bethany, new families. We are glad you could join us. Good to see you return, old families. Our student body has increased by 12 to 79 to start the year. May we all work together in teaching our children to live victoriously in Christ!

Soccer Season

The first soccer practice for boys in grades 5-8 is tomorrow at Field #7, at Anderson Park from 3:30-5:00pm. At 4:50pm, we will have a parent player meeting that will last for 10 minutes or so. For the first practice, the boys should have soccer cleats, shorts, and water to drink. The best way to Anderson Park from school during the 22nd avenue construction is: 1) Take 75th Street to 30th Avenue. 2) Then take 30th Avenue left or south until you come to the park just past Tremper High School.

The volleyball season begins with our first practice on Monday, August 26th at Friedens Lutheran School. B-team will practice from 3:30 - 4:30pm and A-team will practice from 4:30-5:30pm. Games begin September 10th. More information will be available tomorrow for girls interested in playing.
