Just when we thought we could begin school, sin raises its ugly head and causes us to delay the re-opening of school one more week. We do not know all details that led to the rioting downtown these past few days, but we do know that some people were so angry that they destroyed businesses, a car dealership, and set buildings ablaze. How sad and yes, how scary! So we postponed school for a week, and will again attempt to re-open on Tuesday, September 1st. We pray that by then the rioting will have ceased and calmer heads will prevail.
During these frightful times, our theme this year reminds us that Jesus is with us every day. By the grace of God, we reached today safely due to his almighty power and eternal love for us. We know that Jesus protects us for he tells us, “Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age,” (Matthew 28:20). He spoke these words to the apostles right before he ascended into heaven. He gave them the command to go and preach the good news of salvation through faith in Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection for them. Jesus knew that many people would attack the disciples because of their message. So Jesus wanted them to know he had their backs.
Once more, we will again attempt to begin our 100th year of teaching the truth about Jesus to the boys and girls that sit in our classrooms. May Jesus richly bless the sharing of the Word. He will send his Holy Spirit to work on the hearts and minds of the children and teachers alike. Growing their faith, forgiving their sins, and motivating them to live for Christ is all part of the work done by the Spirit through the Word. With confidence, we know Jesus will be with us every step of the way providing protection and blessing his Word. Thank you Jesus for being with us today, tomorrow, and always!
First Day of School
On the first day of school, there will be before and after school care. It begins at 6:30 AM. If you drop off your child, they must enter door #2 by the principal and pastor’s offices. Before you take off, Michelle Artus will give you a call on her school phone to inform you if your child passed the temperature check of 1000F. Please know that if they do not pass, we will send your child back out to the car. You may wait 15 minutes and take the temperature again, or you may decide to take your child home. Please park along the fence while you are waiting.
For those of you arriving and not using before school care, we will start to let students enter the building at 7:35 AM. Again, your child will have their temperature checked at the door. If they passed, your child will wave goodbye and go to their classroom. If your child does not pass, they will return to the car. You may wait 15 minutes and take the temperature again, or you may decide to take your child home. Please park along the fence while you are waiting.
After school, we will dismiss one family at a time. If you decide that you want to walk your child from the building, please stand on a marked spot outside door #2 which is the north entrance. For those waiting in a car, please park along the fence, and we will dismiss one family at a time. Expect delays for the first week of school until we get the routines down. THANK YOU for your cooperation!
Tuesday, September 8, is picture day for our students. Everyone gets a picture because we need them for our permanent records. It is up to you if you want to order any pictures. We will be sending home order forms next week. Here is a link to help you prepare for picture day.
Due to the cancellation of school this week, if you ordered hot lunch or milk for August 25-28 those orders will be moved to September 1-4. Please note the meals have changed. The menu is attached below if you want to make changes please let me know. If you did not have a chance to order hot lunch or milk, you can still place an order for September 1-4, by email to firstname.lastname@example.org before Wednesday at 8 AM.
Orders for September 8-30, can be turned into the office next Wednesday, September 2, by 8 AM.
You can still order just milk for your child for $0.30 per day. The only change is that all milk must be pre-ordered. We are no longer selling milk the same day.
There will be no changes to the order once Mrs Vega has submitted it to MCFI All orders are due turned in to the office Wednesday by 8am. Orders received after then will not be fulfilled.
PLEASE COMPLETE THIS SURVEY!
This year, instead of having a Junior Choir, we are starting the Laudate Choir, which is open to all students in grades 4-8 and will meet after school for 30 minutes once a week, preparing to sing for church services as health regulations allow. As stated earlier, Laudate Choir will meet after school hopefully beginning in January. If your student is interested, please indicate that below.
All students in grades 5-8 will have 30 minutes of general music each week this year. In order to find out more about your student, I have several questions about general music in this survey. Please make sure you read to the end!
7th AND 8th GRADE STUDENTS ONLY:
This form also lets Miss Petermann know if you are interested in becoming a member of our Handbell Choir, which practices from 1:15-1:45 on Mondays and Fridays during the school year. If you are not interested in joining the Handbell Choir, you will be in study hall for that time. Handbells will play for three church services during the first semester.
Please note the change of date for the 100th Anniversary celebration. Due to concerns about the large gathering for the 100th Anniversary we are moving the date from November 8, 2020, to March 21, 2021. We have a number of people involved in planning the celebration. If you would like to help, please contact the office or one of the committee members - Pastor Pagel, Miss Sternhagen, Miss Petermann, Mr. Steve Dankert, or myself.
