God's Word Rains

What is the reason we receive rain? What is the purpose of snow? Some people say that snow provides a blanket to protect the plants, especially the grass, from dying during the dormant winter season. But, farmers and scientists will tell you that the snow leaves behind nutrients when it melts in the springtime. Water is essential for plants to grow. The water provided by rain and snow is used by plants to carry on photosynthesis. Without water, plants will soon wither and die. The ultimate purpose of rain and snow is to provide food for us to stay alive.
God’s Word is like rain. Isaiah refers to this in Isaiah 55:10-11, “As the rain and snow come down from heaven, and do not return without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” God’s Word is powerful. The Law shows us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God which is perfection. We cannot save ourselves and get rid of sin. The Gospel is that Good News which proclaims that all are justified, declared righteous, by God’s grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
In your lifetime, you will have the opportunity to hear that word. Sadly, there are those that reject and will suffer the consequences in hell.  But for us believers, God’s Word rains eternal life and salvation. It gives strength to the weak and comforts the hurting. God’s Word accomplishes its purpose to condemn and save wherever it is preached. So why should your family be in church or watching online? Through the life giving Water of Life, we are saved, strengthened in faith, and given the blessing of leading a God-fearing life. God’s Word has been raining and snowing on Bethany Lutheran School for 100 years. It will continue to rain on Kenosha Lutheran Academy in the future. May God grant that we are watered with the Word all the days of our lives.

School Play/Musical Tryouts

We are going to attempt to do the musical Willy Wonka Jr that we started practicing last year. We pray that by April 30 we can put on the performance at Friedens gym. You may tentatively put that date on your calendar. The alternative day would by May 7th.
We will be holding tryouts for our Spring Musical Willy Wonka Junior. There are a number of speaking and singing parts available. Please see the Cast List on the Willy Wonka Board outside the office for casting notes. If your child tried out last year and would like to keep their part, they are encouraged to do that. If they would like to try out for a different part, they may do so, but will then be giving up their previous part. Please see Mrs. Hagedorn for tryout packs for a specific part. All notes about the musical will be posted on the Willy Wonka Board outside the office. Tryouts will be held on Tuesday, January 19 from 3:30-5:30 pm. Please sign up for a time slot on the Willy Wonka Board. Please note that speaking parts include occasional after school practices, beginning in February.
