Why Register Now?

As the school year winds down, we are busy planning the 100th Anniversary of Bethany Lutheran School. In 1921, Pastor Victor Brohm convinced the members of Bethany Lutheran Church that they should open a Christian Day School on the corner of 15th Avenue and 74th Street. Pastor Brohm gave the reason to rejoice over Christian Education when he said, “We ought to give thanks to God for having given us such a school and for the opportunity of spending some of our money for the Christian training of children.” There were 18 students in 8 grades.  By 1926, there were 44 students in 8 grades with 2 teachers. Then came difficult times and the school shrunk to 18 at the end of the 1947-1948 school year.  Would the school survive?
By God’s grace, the school began to grow again in the 1950’s, and by 1960 it went over 100 students for the first time. For the next 30 years Bethany had an enrollment of over 100 students with the high of 131 in 1975. Pastor Enderle wrote in 1978, “As one looks back over the past years, one cannot help but be amazed at the blessings God has showered on our church and school. The greatest of these blessings is the Gospel in Word and Sacrament.”
Now we are about to embark on a new endeavor. Kenosha Lutheran Academy is forming through the merger of the Kenosha WELS churches and schools. Our new school will still have the same blessings as we have enjoyed in the past. God gives the gift of children to parents and expects them to teach their children about sin and grace. To confess their sins and trust in Jesus for forgiveness. At Kenosha Lutheran Academy next year, your child will be taught by teachers that are concerned about their souls and share sin and grace with them. God’s Law which as a mirror shows the child their sin and the Gospel which announces forgiveness in Christ will be the center of all our activities. Children will not only be taught how to live for Christ, but also how to witness his love for all people.
Our Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod has supported parents by providing Christian Education in day schools from the 1850’s to the present. In fact, the WELS Lutheran School system is the 4th largest private school system in the United States. Over the years, the academic bar has been set high to prepare children for success in high school. With Shoreland as part of our K-12 system, we work with them to have our children ready for attending SLHS or another school of their choice.
We encourage you now to register for next school year at Kenosha Lutheran Academy by going to the website: klawolves.com. KLA will be a place where the Holy Spirit works through the Word every day on your child’s heart. Isn’t that something you want for your child? May God bless your raising of your children to his glory!

We Are About to Kick Off!

Heroes are never alone, they band together!  Our school has decided to take on blood cancer and our mission is to help find a cure. Be on the lookout for more information in the upcoming days as we will kick-off our Hero Squad program on March 12, 2021!

By participating in Hero Squad, your student will learn about teamwork, bravery, social awareness, and will become part of a Squad that supports blood cancer patients, letting them know they are not alone.  Hero Squad emphasizes the importance of social and emotional learning and gaining the experience of helping both children and adults in their fight against blood cancer right in our community.

Your student can get started early by visiting HeroSquad.org, finding our school and joining their classroom to set up a page of their own.  Help your student develop goal-setting, self-motivation and organizational skills and they will earn fun Hero Gear at various fundraising levels!  Every hero needs a squad!

The Wisconsin Lutheran College men’s basketball program will be hosting our annual Warriors Youth Boys Basketball Camps. This is a fantastic opportunity for every level of player looking to improve their basketball skills, in addition to achieving individual and team goals. The camp staff includes the coaching staff and current Warriors players. All sessions will be held inside WLC’s Recreation Complex.

The camp will provide young boys with the best basketball environment regardless of their level of play. We work with players of all abilities, and have a curriculum to fit each individual with a training program, based on their skill level. This camp will feature individual and group activities, as well as time for discussion to advance the understanding of the game.
