The Light Has Come
In our Advent Series this year, the children will be presenting the Christmas service in three parts. The first is next Wednesday, December 2 and will be presented by the 7th and 8th grades. The theme of the first part is the Light of the World was promised from the beginning of time. John, the Baptist, identified Jesus as the light of the world.
When God created the world it was perfect in every way. No sin. Only bliss and happiness. Then Satan brought darkness into the world when he tempted Adam and Eve to sin. Sin brought the darkness of pain, sickness, and sorrow. The pitch, black darkness of sin seemed hopeless. Death awaited Adam and Eve. But God did not abandon them or his creation. He promised a rescuer from sin, death, and the power of the devil would come. He would be a shining light in their sin-darkened hearts.
The promise was given to Abraham that the Savior, the Light of the World, would come from his own family. Isaiah foretold the voice of John, the Baptist, one day, 700 years later, would cry out in the wilderness. The glory of the Lord would be revealed in his Son, Jesus.
Throughout the Old Testament, the promise of the coming Light of the World was repeated. Moses wrote about it. King David described the coming Savior, and Isaiah made it more clear. Jesus is the promised Light of the World. He fulfilled all the promises of God. He paid for the sin of mankind through his suffering, death, and resurrection. This message is what our aching hearts need to hear. It brings peace, comfort, and joy to all who believe it!

Christmas Service for Advent
During the three weeks of Advent, the children will be proclaiming God’s Word through recitation and song. The students in grades 7-8 will be first on Wednesday, December 2 at 3:30 PM. The service theme is “The Light Has Come: The Light Promised.” On December 9 grades 3-6 will be presenting “The Light Has Come: The Light Prophesied.” The final service, December 16 will be done by grades K-2, “The Light Has Come: The Light with Us.” In order to properly prepare for the service, we need to know if your child is not participating. If you decide not to have them participate, please send an email to the teacher or to blsoffice@bethanykenosha.org. Please note there is a limit of 4 people per family for the service. hat is the only way we can safely distance ourselves. Thank you for cooperating with this. Call Received
Dear Members of Bethany:
This past Sunday, November 15, I received a divine call to teach third and fourth grade at Abiding Peace Academy in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Over the next few weeks I will be prayerfully considering the two calls that God has now given me - my call to serve Bethany and my call to serve Abiding Peace. I humbly ask for your prayers as I deliberate. Please feel free to reach out and share your thoughts with me on how you think my gifts and abilities may be useful at either ministry. Thank you for keeping me and all the called workers here at Bethany in your thoughts and prayers.
In Christ,
Lena Petermann

Bethany Youth Christmas Service - A Change!
Because of the current health concerns in our community, we will not be having a whole-school Christmas Service on Friday, December 18 (that will be a full day of regular school). Instead, the students have been divided into 3 groups and will each present an Advent Service on a Wednesday in December. The groups and dates will be as follows:
- December 2 @ 3:30 pm - 7th and 8th grade
- December 9 @ 3:30 pm - 3rd - 6th grade
- December 16 @ 3:30 pm - K - 2nd grade
Each Advent Service will be a "mini" Christmas service. At this time, there is no limit on the number of family members per student, but that is subject to change. We will also be recording each service and publishing it on the internet for family and friends to watch afterwards if they are unable to attend.
