Emotional Regulations
The game is on the line. The pitcher is throwing hard. The boy is trembling as he stands at home plate. The umpire calls strike three. Your son turns and slams his bat against the ground, and throws his helmet against the fence as he walks back to the dugout. His father and mother cringe because their son cannot keep his emotions under control.
Parents wonder what is happening to their 13 year-old child. When he was younger, he used to cry or throw tantrums when things did not go his way. Now here we go again. He is acting up. and you are frustrated. Is he regressing to preschool days?
During adolescence, hormones start to cause upheaval in the child’s emotional system. His outbursts have been causing him to lose friends. Your daughter seems to be withdrawing from any emotional challenges and won’t engage in any new activity. Children who have too much stress or lack stability or predictability in their environment have more problems controlling their emotions.
So what can parents do to help their child? You can help by providing as much stability and consistency as possible. Recognize that your child needs some help. After your child calms down, talk to him or her about their feelings. While doing so, discuss ways that you help to control your emotions. Is a parent, model self-control. Identify what it is that causes your child to lose control, and then identify ways to avoid the emotional blow-up. How do you politely and confidently walk away from the situation? What are appropriate ways that your child can express negative feelings? Praise the efforts of your child to control his or her emotions.
Finally, discuss with your child how they are redeemed, forgiven children of God. Point out how God forgives those times when we lose our emotional control. Let them know that you love them no matter what. And by all means, tell them that God is with them and will guide them through his Word to a life of joyful service in his kingdom.

Basketball Concessions Update
Due to limited fan attendance and the gym restrictions, we will not be offering concessions at this time for home basketball games. We had hoped for limited concessions to be available, but it doesn't seem to be feasible at this time. If you wish to help out with your child's team, you can speak to their coaches about providing a game snack/drink for before or after games.

Winter Gear
With winter and cold weather present please remember to send hat, ear muffs, scarves, mittens, snow pants, boots, and gloves to school with your child/ren. When it starts to snow please remember that they will also need winter boots and snow pants. We try to get the children outside as much as we possibly can. If your child/ren do not come to school with the appropriate gear they will stay inside for recess. If they do not have any of these items when they come to school.; they will not be allowed to play in the snow that day. Because we do not want them in wet clothes for the rest of the day. Thank you.
