Good Friday?

Why is next Friday called Good Friday?  After all, it is the day we celebrate someone’s death. On Good Friday, Jesus, bloodied and beaten, carried his own cross to his execution. He bore the sins of the world on his shoulders. He felt the guilt of everyone’s sin. The wrath of God in all its fury was heaped on Jesus. Why? Because of my sins. Because of your sins. Because of the sins of the whole world. God demands payment for our sins. So he sent his Son to suffer hell so that you and I never have to suffer hell.

When Jesus was on the cross, we see God’s Law in his suffering and dying our sins. But more importantly, we see God’s infinite love for us. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8). Jesus the perfect substitute took our place, paid for our sins, and in return gives us life and salvation. This love is the Gospel. How comforting to know that we are forgiven!  This act of  love by Jesus is what makes Friday good. When Jesus cried out, “It is finished,” the work of salvation was complete. God’s plan to sacrifice his own Son to save us was done. Eternal life for us is secure.

Every day at Bethany Lutheran School we have the privilege of sharing this awesome news with your child. It brings peace to our hearts knowing that Jesus made us his own dear child. Confidence to face each new day comes from knowing Jesus is with us every day. Jesus victory  As we come to another Good Friday, may you and your family take time to worship our loving Savior who gave his life for us so that we may have the Good Life in heaven forever.

We are Halfway Through!

We are now in the second week of participating in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Hero Squad program! We are so very appreciative of everyone’s support so far – thank you!

We are asking that everyone join our school squad and help raise awareness by collecting funds to benefit the mission of LLS: to find cures for blood cancers and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. To join in our efforts, visit HeroSquad.org, find our school and select “Join Your Classroom Team” to set up your page. From there, share it via email, on social media, or have your student write a letter sharing why the Hero Squad is important to them!

If you haven’t watched our super cool Assembly video, you can do so here.

In order to help your student develop goal-setting, self-motivation and organizational skills they will earn fun Hero Gear at various fundraising levels. All students that register online will receive a glow in the dark Power Ring!  The glow of the Power Ring reminds us that we have to be brave for our patient friends when they are sick. And don’t forget to download our NEW Hero Squad app so you can easily track your donations, share your fundraising page and unlock prizes all in one place! Search “LLS Hero Squad” in your iOS or Android app store to get started!

Thank you families for your support!  Every hero needs a squad!

At Bethany, this is Kindness Week. We are encouraging Acts of Kindness this week and doing some Social Emotional activities as well. Teachers will be giving Kindness coupons, with a fun prize for one student in each classroom. Wednesday and Friday are special dress up days as well. On Wednesday, March 24 wear green or orange to show support and raise awareness for leukemia and lymphoma! Friday, March 26 is Crazy Hair or Wacky Hat day.

Watch for video updates on Bethany's Facebook and Instagram pages. Encourage your child to BE KIND today and everyday!
