As You Lay Sleeping is an experimental musical about a woman slowly untangling her obsession with romantic love. As she collects all the pieces of a broken relationship, she comes to terms with the fact that maybe she'll never be able to get it right because it's all wrong to begin with. We follow her as she breaks up with her sleeping boyfriend, attends an imaginary wedding, and moves on.

Margot is passionate about social justice and pours herself into her work, while trying to be a good mother and partner. Her busy life is upended when she begins to experience disorienting moments. Objects aren’t where she left them, people she’s speaking with disappear only to reappear moments later. Her partner is convinced it’s stress, but Margot worries it’s something more.

This performance is a Staged Reading.

This show follows two Korean immigrant boys who compete in a Korean game show where they learn how to be Canadian in order to fit in and survive the dangerous territories of high school.

The play borrows the styles of South Korean variety games, and talk shows where competitors are placed in difficult, uncomfortable situations to face outrageous and cutthroat challenges. The play examines the intersections of culture, race, and bullying.

Winner of the Digital New Play Contest, which is sponsored by the Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation.

Playwright: Ngọc Hân (Rebecca) Trần
