Invitation to 2-Day Workshop in D.C.: Embedding Social and Emotional Learning in Textbooks

ECCN members are invited to participate in a two-day workshop on Embedding Social and Emotional Learning in Textbooks on February 1 and 2, 2018, at George Washington University, in Washington, D.C.

The workshop will be led by ECCN Advisory Group member Margaret Sinclair; the host and co-organizer is Jim Williams, a professor at George Washington University.

The workshop will build on the Sustainable Development Target 4.7, the global goal on education (SDG 4) that encourages the development of the knowledge and skills necessary to strengthen mutual understanding and care among all members of society and for the planet we share.

These knowledge and skills include:

  • sustainable development and lifestyles
  • human rights
  • gender equality
  • culture of peace and non-violence
  • global citizenship
  • appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development

The Workshop will review tools and practices to inform how to bring these topics to the classroom in standard textbooks.
