Many clubs and groups have been canceling their January meetings due to the extreme winter weather. With the extremely challenging road conditions and unpredictable forecasts, it's wise to be safe! Individual members can STILL research and work on their projects and 4-H responsibilities independently. And groups can share, encourage, and collaborate with each other via email and social networking in between "face-to-face" meeting opportunities.

The weather is SUPPOSED to moderate next week, just in time for Super Saturday in Moses Lake on January 21st. Plan now for a day full of interesting workshops and activities for both youth and adults. Invite your non-4-H friends too! IF the weather is questionable on the morning of the 21st, you mall call Jeannie Kiehn at 509-398-0123 to confirm status of the event.

Due to the wide variety of class sizes in the past, there will be class sign-up sheets to fill out as you register.  At this time, class size is limited to 14 with the exception of PQA (all needing to attend this class can do so).  If there is room for more in a workshop, additional spots will be added after each class has filled.  TWO workshops require earlier RSVP, the "Dissecting a Pig Heart" and the "4-H 101 Part 2 Volunteer Leader Training."  Click on the link in the Super Saturday article for details in the class descriptions. All of the workshops are chalked full of information and fun & educational hands-on activities - so don’t miss Super Saturday!

Have a great week!

KIMSeattle Heart Module Workshop
Offered at Super Saturday
Put on a surgical gown, pull on some gloves, and pick up dissection tools to complete a full pig heart dissection!  During this dynamic two-hour session each participant will pair with a lab partner to complete an 18-step dissection just as a Cardiac Surgeon would do.  Expert instructors with diverse medical backgrounds will provide heart basics, activities and lead the lab - including cutting-edge cardiac device demos.  A strong focus throughout the program is exposure to a breadth of science and medicine-related career options.
Program goals are to: 1) teach the anatomy and physiology of the heart, 2) provide an authentic laboratory experience, and 3) expose students to related careers not typically recognized.  We look forward to meeting you in heart surgery!
This KIMSeattle workshop module is suitable for Ages 8 and up only. Students will learn about the cardiovascular system and also have hands on experience of dissecting a
pig heart.
Please call or text Laura Smith at 509-750-5083 to RSVP by January 18th as space will be limited (please give members name, age, and the name of the 4-H club they belong to).
We will fill up the morning class prior to offering the afternoon classes based on the number of RSVP's.  Our suggestion is that if members who are showing pigs will be going to the afternoon PQA class they should attend the morning session of KIMSeattle.
