Happy Friday!
No - you didn't miss the E-News last week or the week before! If there is not much NEW to report and other tasks are more pressing, we have decided not to clutter your "in-box" just to say "Hi" and repeat reminders. To keep up on possible updates in between E-News issues, you can always explore our Lincoln-Adams WSU Extension Website: extension.wsu.edu/lincoln-adams/ . There's lots there! Or visit (and "Like") the Grant-Adams-Lincoln 4-H Facebook Page!

National Volunteer Week is winding down - there's still time to THANK volunteers in your life . . . especially 4-H volunteers! Without 4-H volunteers, we would NOT have a 4-H program! Fewer great opportunities for kids to have fun while learning about their interests, how to work with others in groups, go to camp, attend Know Your Government Conferences, receive scholarships, attend County, Community & State Fairs, and so much more!

An extra shout out to Jan Klein this week. Jan Klein began her association with 4-H as a Lincoln County Family 4-H leader, expanded to club, county, and state 4-H volunteer roles, and eventually transitioned to her position as the 4-h Adolescent Leadership Specialist for the WA State 4-H Program. This afternoon from 2 - 4 pm is her official retirement party at the State 4-H Office at WSU Spokane. Thank you Jan for all your years of service to youth, volunteers, and the 4-H Program!  Jan is great reminder that 4-H is MORE than a YOUTH development program. 4-H provides many opportunities for adults to learn, grow, and serve!

Have a great weekend!

JOIN US THIS SUMMER
and SHARE YOUR WORLD!

Give your family a global perspective by hosting international youth this summer.  Looking for some excitement and fun this summer? Host a youth delegate from Japan or Korea in your home for 3 ½ weeks (July 23 – August 17). Washington
4-H International Exchange Program is offering volunteer hosting opportunities for families. A host sibling should be the same gender and within 3-4 years of the delegate’s age. Adult chaperones from Japan and Korea will also stay with host families.  Host families do not have to be enrolled in the
4-H Program.

Who are these youth delegates?

Click here for a list of delegates and their interests. They are sons and daughters, sisters and brothers, much like the children in your own family. They are curious, engaging, excited to meet you, and looking forward to learning about family life in the US. While particular matches cannot be guaranteed, every effort is made to match shared interests.

How do we apply to host?
Click here to apply online at the States’ 4-H International Exchange website. If you haven’t hosted before you’ll be contacted for an in-home interview.

Who do I contact?
If you’re interested, please act quickly! Japanese and Korean youth are anxiously waiting to learn who their host families might be. If you have questions send me an email or give me a call. I’m happy to answer your questions. Dianna.ullery@wsu.edu

Deadline?
Applications to host will be accepted until all of our youth delegates and chaperones are placed, BUT the earlier the better for everyone involved. Please SHARE this message with others who might be interested in this exciting opportunity. This program is open to all families in all communities in Washington, so let your friends and neighbors know about it.
