Mode Shift's Walkability Team has been working hard to come up with solutions to a problem related to our pedestrian infrastructure - Omaha does not have a policy requiring sidewalk access during construction projects. Sidewalk users often face difficult and dangerous choices when they encounter a blocked or closed sidewalk. It doesn't have to be this way - many other cities that are similar to Omaha have policies that require safe alternatives for sidewalk users in a construction zone.
For more insight, please watch the video below and sign our petition for Safer Sidewalk Policy.
Are you interested in getting involved in issues related to walkability and pedestrian infrastructure? Join us for the Walkability Committee meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of the month or contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
When The Sidewalk Ends in Omaha
The Biking Team was busy in June. Thank you to those who volunteered to clean up debris from bike lanes and to do Bike Valet at Castlepalooza & the College World Series. You are making bicycling in Omaha a viable choice for many!

The Missing Middle Housing Campaign had a fantastic kick-off event on June 5!
