One week from today!

PTO MEETING
with 4J Superintendent Dr. Gus Balderas

Thursday, APRIL 14th
6:30-7:30pm

We NEED parents to attend this meeting to show the depth of parent support at the school and to advocate for access to Japanese from K-12. Dr. Gus Balderas will attend to discuss the future of language immersion in the district.

Childcare Provided

Friday April 8th YG students will celebrate Japan's annual Hanami festival! Students are encouraged to bring a blanket or towel to eat their lunch, hot or cold, under the YG cherry trees on the west end of the school at 11:30 a.m. Kinders too!

A little background from Wikipedia:  Hanami ("flower viewing") is the Japanese traditional custom of enjoying the transient beauty of flowers, flowers ("hana") in this case almost always referring to those of the cherry ("sakura") trees. From the end of March to early May, sakura bloom all over Japan. The blossom forecast is announced each year by the weather bureau and is watched carefully by those planning hanami as the blossoms only last a week or two. In modern-day Japan, hanami mostly consists of having an outdoor party beneath the sakura during day or night.

Yearbook code: 10087716
Two more weeks to order -
you are only guaranteed a book if you order one.

We get very few extra copies! The YG yearbook gathers a year's worth of memories and photos with help from the older grades (and lots of parent shutterbugs too)! Your child will cherish these memories of friends, places and events that shape our school each year. Yearbooks are $15 and will be handed out on the last day of school.

You can also order/pay in the office with Diane.
Dear YG Parents,

A neighbor from Sterling Drive came in Tuesday after 3 p.m. to inform us of a serious incident. Her maintenance worker was having a heart attack and the ambulance and fire trucks could not get through!

Parents were even going around the rescue vehicles stuck on Silver Lane to get into the horseshoe. You know your child is safe here at YG therefore,  you should always give the right of way to emergency vehicles. The man was taken to the hospital and luckily will survive.

We work so hard to teach the children to be good citizens.  We are respectful. We are safe. We are responsible. Please if this situation ever happens again, and we hope it doesn't, be a WOW parent and do the right thing!
