March 3, 2016

It's going to be a FUN night with your fellow YG parents, teachers, and friends all coming together to support the learning and cultural experiences that happen at our school. Thanks to all of you who will join us and all who have contributed to the cause. This biggest fundraiser of the year brings teaching assistants to our classrooms, helps build Japanese language curriculum, provides math support in classrooms, and much more.

Here's what you can expect once you arrive:
  1. Start off right - get tropical and wear vacation clothes - maybe even flip flops!
  2. Get there early! Starts at 5:00pm & some silent auction items close early too.
  3. Put on a name tag - add your child's grade so we can connect with each other.
  4. Grab an auction number even if you plan to exhibit tons of restraint ; )
  5. Start stamping your Passport to Paradise. A prize awaits a lucky traveler.
  6. Take a picture in the photo booth - you're on an evening vacation, enjoy!
  7. If you are a parent, look for a special, handmade gift just for you.
  8. Look for a person selling bead necklaces. Buy a few. Flip a coin. Win $$$.
  9. Grab a tropical drink (and if you need a ride home - we've got your back).
  10. Tour the Silent Auction tables. Be amazed at the generosity of our community.
  11. Take a look at the best part of the might - the class art projects.
  12. Mingle, grab a seat, talk to someone you don't know. No more strangers!
  13. Wander out on the patio - which tree should you take home to plant tomorrow?
  14. Oh look! You were the high bidder on that week at River Road Summer Camp.
  15. Check out the dessert table and cross your fingers for a dessert dash victory.
  16. Enjoy a Hawaiian themed meal - with macadamia banana bread. Delicious.
  17. Agree with friends to bid fiercely on the 20 person catered Duck tailgate spot.
  18. Get outbid for the Kindergarten Art - darn, there's always 1st grade.
  19. Win the 12 date night restaurant package - should you go to Koho Bistro first?

Please sign and return your child's report card envelope.  This lets us know you actually received it and we reuse the envelop at the end of the year.  You may keep the report card itself.
Lost and found articles will be on display on the fence behind the school March 14 - 17.  After that they will be donated to charity.  We have approximately 200 items.  Could one or two belong to your child?

Grades 2 - 5 (and maybe first, if other schools don't claim all the tickets) will be going to "Down the Rabbit Hole" Corridor's annual play on Wednesday, March 16.  They will travel by school bus for the morning show at the Hult Center, returning in time for lunch at the regular time.  Since tickets are very scarce, parent chaperones will not be needed.

On Thursday, March 17 (for that day only) lunch will begin at 11:05 for grades 1-5 to allow Corridor students to return from their play and have our usual lunch time.
Parents: If you are going to visit after 3 with other families on school property, your child still needs to follow school rules. For a parent to stand there and let a child climb a tree and damage school shrubs is not ok. Supervise your student at all times please!
