Ahoy! Book Fair

Monday-Friday
October 24-28
Hours & details coming soon, but to run this book party for YG's voracious readers we need help getting things set up and helping students purchase their selections. The fair is open every day, hours will vary depending on how many volunteers can help us open - Check in with Rob (tobor8@gmail.com) if you can lend a hand.

Great prices, grade level selections,
and purchases contribute to expanding YG's library collection.

Just three more people to staff

It sounds almost too simple to be true, but by reading regularly with your children during their preschool years, you are giving them the biggest boost toward a successful education that they will ever get. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library can help! Every child who lives in the City of Eugene can receive a new book each month by mail from ages birth through four. Free!

The books are a gift to keep. All you have to do is read to your children – which will make a huge difference for their futures and the future of our community!

Help! YG's stash of small underwear and sweatpants is getting low...if you are cleaning out closets & drawers this fall, please be sure to send in a few of those "bottoms" to help students out in those occasional emergency situations.  Smaller sizes are most needed!

THANKS!

We have students with a possibly-fatal peanut and tree nut allergies.  We realize that students are really not old enough to monitor their own lunches.  Therefore, we ask that all students who bring a lunch from home NOT sit at the peanut-free tables in the lunchroom.  This will leave the tables for allergic students and any students who have purchased the school's hot lunch which never contains these allergens.  Thank you!
We are trying hard to reduce the confusion in the hallway on early-release Wednesdays.  You can help by sending a note with your child if you plan to pick up him/her before lunch.  We will make sure the note gets to the proper teacher.  Then your child will be sent to the front of the school when his/her class is dismissed.

Our next request is that you please wait outside the doors until your child meets you before lunch AND after dismissal.  We have classes leaving for lunch at all times, and your presence in the halls can make it difficult for classes to continue and for students to get to and from lunch in an orderly manner.

Thank you for your support!

Alton Baker Park

It's time for the 20th annual Haunted Hike! At this fun, family-oriented event, Nearby Nature guides lead special night hikes along a festive pumpkin-lit trail through Alton Baker Park.

On each hike, folks encounter all sorts of furry and feathered creatures of the night in costume, from a gigantic bat to a sneaky spider.

Back at the decorated picnic shelter, folks have a hooting, howling good time creating creepy crafts, playing fun games, and gobbling up tricky treats. There is also a great raffle of goods and services donated by generous local businesses.

Haunted Hike is free for Nearby Nature members and $5 per person for non-members. Groups are welcome. Pre-registration is required and is available here and at 541-687-9699, ext #2.

Each hike lasts about an hour and folks are welcome to come early or stay after their scheduled hikes to enjoy the festivities. The hike is most appropriate for pre-school through elementary-aged kids, but adults love it too. Check out photos below from last year's event! To see even more, click here.
A handful of copies of last year's yearbook
are available in the office.
