Dear Yujin Gakuen families:
I want to let you know that before school started yesterday morning, two people were struck by slowly moving cars while they were crossing Grove Street. One was a student at a nearby school, and the other was the grandparent of a student at our school. Fortunately, neither person was hurt, but this does serve as a critical reminder for drivers to be watchful for pedestrians. This is also an opportunity to talk to your child about traffic safety and the importance of watching out for cars while crossing the street.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely, Kocho Sensei

Hello YG Famillies!

I am looking for  families that would like to host an intern this February.  All the interns will come from the Tokyo Women's Christian University. They will stay with you for 4 weeks (February 4 - March 3 or 4).  The interns will go school with your child at YG to help all of our kids in the classrooms and then weekends are all family time :)

This is a very fun program and your child and family will learn more about Japan, the language and Japanese culture.
If you are interesting hosting an intern please contact Nami Brown.

The Japanese American Association of Lane County is hosting a gingerbread house making activity for Yujin Gakuen students. This is a free event!  Just bring your creativity.

Snuggle up and join the

Pajama Drive

Every year, Cornerstone Community Housing hosts an annual holiday party for the families living with us—and every year we give every child or teenage a pair of new pajamas at the party.  We hope you can help!  Through the month of November we are hosting a pajama drive so that every kiddo we work with gets a new pair of PJs for the holidays.

Cornerstone provides housing and services to over 1200 low income households in Lane County—even about 90 households here in the Santa Clara Area.

Our services include free fresh produce distribution with FOOD for Lane County, youth and teen programs, community building events, service referrals and community health workers on site to connect residents to wellness—all aimed to help stabilize families and prevent homelessness.

There is a drop off bin in the hallway at Yugin Gakuen which we’ll pick up and sort before the party.  Thank you for helping us support the families we work with!

The UO Mathematics Department is hosting an international math competition, Math Kangaroo, for students in grades 1-12. It is especially good for the Elementary and Middle school students and is an excellent opportunity for the advanced learners to try their abilities at solving interesting problems. All participants receive T-shirts and gifts, and the winners receive extra prizes. For more information please check the Math Kangaroo in USA website:
The competition date is March 16, 2017 and the registration deadline is December 15. The registration is done through the national website:
