In November, AMP presented our recycling proposal to the Lewisburg Town Council Community Development Committee. Like many of you, we strongly feel that Lewisburg should invest in a public recycling program downtown, and so we are proposing that the Borough install eight public recycling containers along Market Street. High schoolers Mariah Lofgren, Evan Armstrong, and Jacob Feuerstein presented our proposal to the Committee, and we received a warm and positive response. In the words of one Council Member, a downtown public recycling program is "absolutely necessary."

However, we haven't won yet! We will be returning to the Committee meeting in December to answer more questions from Town Council and to update them on our progress in building financial support through local partnerships. We're reaching out to Bucknell University, downtown businesses, and passionate individuals to raise pledges to help off-set the Borough's initial costs of starting a public recycling program in Lewisburg.

Anyone can contribute! This week, we are going door-to-door to the businesses along Market Street to solicit pledges. We are not currently collecting any donations, simple asking for pledges of specific amounts that businesses or individuals would contribute if and when Town Council approves our proposal. Any business or family who pledges $100 or more to support public recycling will receive a special "Proud Sponsor of Lewisburg Recycling" window decal sticker to display and will be highlighted in the CommUnity Zone's monthly newsletter for their commitment to improving our community.

If you or anyone, business, or organization you know may be interested in pledging financial support to a public recycling program in downtown Lewisburg, please don't hesitate to share this information or have them contact AMP directly at (570) 447-3127 or at activemillennialsforprogress@gmail.com. Hopefully, we'll be able to return to the Committee meeting this month with good tidings of growing community and financial support! We'll keep you posted.

An Open Letter to the Pennsylvania Trans Community from the ACLU of Pennsylvania

We are in awe of those of you who are sharing your stories during Transgender Awareness Week and coming together in your communities for...
