Our Moonee Valley Internships Program offers internship opportunities to young people to gain additional skills and support to enter the competitive job market. The project is a response to the increasing youth unemployment rate in our region. As an organisation we believe it is important to invest into our young people's futures.
We are very excited to have partnered with Hawkers Beer Brewery to offer a rare internship opportunity to a young person in their brew house in Reservoir.
MVI interns receive a total of $20 per day
a volunteer allowance for costs related to their role (e.g. lunch & travel)
Hawkers Beer Brewery is a newly launched venture between the Middle East's first ever craft brewer, Mazen Hajjar from 961 Beer, and respected Melbourne chef Joseph Abboud. They launched their first beer on February 19, 2014 and on February 21 it won the People's Choice award at the Great Australian Beer Festival in Geelong.
Their Brew House is located in Reservoir and is all about efficiency, supplying high quality crafted beer to business and the wider public. Now, Hawkers Brewery is looking for an enthusiastic young person to join their team for a 10-week internship opportunity at their brew house.
This internship opportunity is designed for young people at risk of long-term unemployment. This opportunity will be an amazing entry intoWarehousing or the Food and Beverage Industry. It will support you to meet the right people to expand your network in this area of work.
Your Responsibilities:
As an intern at Hawkers Brewery you will work in a warehouse environment for 10 weeks (1-2 days per week) where the daily beer is brewed. You will be working together and guided by an enthusiastic team of brewers and warehousing staff.
As an intern you will:
Support the day-to day work at the brewery
If you have a forklift license you'll get to practice that skill
Gain an understanding of beer brewing
Help with bottling of beer
Filling and packing bottles
Work on production line
Support dispatch and delivery
Loading and un-loading of goods and pallets
Receiving and stacking goods
