Our Interns receive a total of $20 per day

a volunteer allowance to cover costs related to their role (e.g. lunch & travel)

MVI offers internship opportunities to young people to gain additional skills and support to enter the competitive job market. The project is a response to the increasing youth unemployment rate in our region. As an organisation we believe it is important to invest into our young people's futures. The project goes hand in hand with our range of projects where we directly engage with industry and business partners, schools and training organisations as well as with the community in order to support young people with their successful transition to education and employment.

This internship opportunity is designed for young people at risk of long-term unemployment, who are interested in Community Development, Social Work, Project Managment or Business Administration.

As part of this internship young people will participate in a project management workshop and apply the newly learned skills to a real-life small-scale project (find our interns' most recent project work below).

Throughout the internship the MVI staff support the successful candidates intensively with pathway planning, equipping them for future roles and the competitive job market, supporting them with the transition to education or training and with finding a job.

Young people have the opportunity to be matched with a skilled mentor for additional support.

To qualify for an internship the young person must be:
  • currently unemployed
  • between the ages of 16 to 24 years old
  • connected to Moonee Valley (live, play or learn)
  • commit to volunteering for up to 10 weeks 1-2 days per week

Closing date: 17 September 2015

Stories From Our Internship Graduates
Elena and Diana attended our youth friendly project management workshop where they have learned how to plan, develop, manage and finalise a project.

We are very much amazed and proud of their achievements. They have coordinated the entire making of this video clip.
Jobcraft Promotion Clip that has been entirley coordinated by our interns Elena and Diana with the support of MVI staff.
This is a excerpt from our Intern's speech at the official video launch:

"[...] On, that note, the project that I have been involved in is called 'Video 4 Jobcraft' and is being advertised to an audience of young people. This project involved many tasks that I found either easy or a little challenging. The task that I found enjoyable was bringing to my creative side and the challenging task was contacting people to help with particular parts of the video.

I'd like to thank Ross, Anna and Jon for their support and making my internship enjoyable.

Finally, I can't explain how grateful I am for being part of this project and I hope you all enjoy the video as much as I did being part of it."
- Elena successfully completed her internship in August 2015 and we are currently supporting with future employment opportunities -
