MPowering the State Student Entrepreneurship Fellow Presents at 2019 BMES Annual Meeting

MPowering the State Student Entrepreneurship Fellow Negin Haghighi Ara presented her research project, "AutoNutriFlow: Utilizing Sensors Gastroenteric Feeding Tubes," at the 2019 Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) Annual Meeting today in Philadelphia. The project focuses on developing an automated feeding tube to remove potential human errors while preventing muscle atrophy and ensuring proper nutrition intake. The Fischell Institute's Kevin AroomMartha Wang, and William E. Bentley also contributed to the project.


Medical Device Design Expertise

Drs. Lex Schultheis and Martha Wang provide regulatory affairs and medical device design consulting services through the Fischell Institute. Schultheis and Wang work with local, national, and international companies to identify, evaluate, and bring their medical devices to market. In addition, they help students, professors, and physicians by guiding their medical devices from concept to reality. The two also work as coach-coordinators for medical device companies that have won the National Capital Consortium for Pediatric Device Innovation's Pitch for Kids competition, providing a regulatory and business bootcamp for pediatric medical devices.
