Let's Get Radical

Last month we introduced you to the Reinvention Lab and their initial offering, the Enduring Ideas Fund. While our work together is just getting started, we’ve already teamed up to help the Lab announce the first cohort of Enduring Ideas grantees, and folks, they’re incredible.  From youth-led investigations into police misconduct to liberatory design internships in rural, Indigenous communities, these projects demonstrate imaginative and vital new models for learning. Read about all funded projects here.

Know anyone working on a radically innovative idea for learner-centered education? Enduring Ideas Round 2 is now open to applications. Grants are for up to $25K. Deadline: July 31.

Equity for All

Earlier this year, we kicked off a branding exercise with a freshly formed collective of funders, advocates and stubborn optimists fighting for reproductive justice. We interviewed experienced organizers, brainstormed potential names for the group, defined the brand strategy and visual identity, and now, we’re pleased to introduce you to the Collaborative for Gender + Reproductive Equity.

With an ambition to raise $100M in new funding every year, CGRE is serious about investing in progress while centering the leaders and needs of our most impacted communities. The Phase One site went up in June and in a few short weeks, the full site launches. Stay tuned!

Small Teams, Big Impact

Every day we wake up and get to dope work for incredible people. Folks like Chicago Freedom School, who in the face of targeted harassment, stayed rooted and ready, fought back and won so they can keep feeding and teaching young POC to build a better world. Then there’s Onward, who keeps speaking truth while inviting new accomplices into the cause. Girls Garage simply can’t and won’t stop slaying. Plant Chicago keeps sowing the seeds for new growth. We are so proud and humbled to have worked alongside these teams, and others out there hustling every day toward justice.

This is more than a moment. It’s a movement, and we all have a role to play. Find what you have to offer, give often, and just. keep. going. (Don’t forget to rest. We need our strength.)

Navigating Edward

Way back in 2016, we made the acquaintance of a small, spirited nonprofit called EdNavigator. Knowing firsthand the complexities of a changing public school system, EdNav creates systems of personalized family support. Four years later, EdNav’s been recognized as one of the most innovative education companies of 2020. We wholeheartedly agree.

As the organization has grown and evolved, so has their website. And now you can read all about it in our new case study. We’ve tinkered and tailored the design and UX to support rich, robust content while making sure folks can find what they need with as little friction as possible. Take a walk with us this way to read all about it.
