Farmer’s Fridge came to us in late 2018. They were growing rapidly, ready to take on new markets and in need of a partner to help prepare for expansion. We learned all we could from the internal team in a series of intensive workshops, conducted heaps of on-site research and developed strategic recommendations for tightening up the brand story. From there, we created handy tools to ensure consistent communications and an easy, breezy customer experience from start to finish. We had one heck of a partner in Farmer’s Fridge, and we’ll be forever grateful for their trust. Next time you spot the Green Halo out in the wild, give it a whirl...and don’t forget to recycle.

If you’re reading this, then you've probably already heard we’re now accepting applications for the 2020 Grant for Good. What? You haven’t?! Well step right up.  

The Grant for Good awards a local nonprofit one full year of our services, everything from brand strategy and visual identity to audience research, website makeover and print design. It’s a big deal. The deadline, December 6th, is just a little over a month away. Tell a nonprofit you know and love (yes, shameless #selflove is encouraged here, too)!

Building Foundations

If you’ve got two minutes to spare for Nobel Prize-winning research, head over to the Financial Foundations microsite to watch a shiny new explainer video we recently wrapped for the Government Finance Officers Association. The animated video brings GFOA’s latest framework to life, introducing the core pillars for building stronger, financially sustainable communities. 

GFOA’s work is critical to re-imagining what responsible local government might look like, and we were thrilled to collaborate with their team once again. If this piques your interest, good news—the forthcoming Financial Foundations book takes a deeper dive into research-validated best practices for building thriving communities.

New at NeoCon 2020

Whether you're professionally creative or culturally curious, you're going to want to know about Designing a Better Chicago. A new initiative set to launch at NeoCon 2020, it's both a celebration and a call to action, highlighting the many ways design can advance social good. From a public art installation along the Riverwalk and neighborhood programming to $50K grants for local projects, Designing a Better Chicago will be an inclusive, inspiring moment for our creative community, and we're thrilled to be a part of it. 

We're working with the masterminds behind the project—a team that includes theMART, Design Museum of Chicago and DCASE—to create its visual identity, along with a microsite to house all the details. We're scheduled to launch in early 2020, so be on the lookout to learn more.

Fireballers About Town

Your fearless Fireballers are a tireless crew. When we’re not pushing pixels or slinging decks, we love to share our passions with people who care. In October, Will and Nermin talked type at Type Tales, while Kristin and Nermin helped a room full of 4th graders brand their small businesses at a workshop hosted by Embarc Chicago and The Academy Group. Sweet Dean also got in on the action, doing a career Q+A with a group of design students from the University of Oklahoma. 

This month, Will’s heading down to Ringling College (the ol’ alma mater!) and Nermin’s gracing Ariel’s Columbia classroom to speak to the next generation of good-doing designers. Follow the fun over on Instagram
