Supporting Survivors

Project Prism is a new digital healing space being developed by an incredible team we've been lucky to partner with. Over the past year or so, we’ve formed a strong bond—and co-created a powerful brand identity. The soon-to-be-renamed Braver Collective will be a powerful resource for survivors of sexual abuse. The new changes haven't been officially implemented yet, but we couldn't help but give you a sneak peak of the name and visual identity. The image above is a taste of the extra-intentional visual style that meets survivors where they are and holds space for a range of emotional states.

In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, here is a list of trusted survivor resources curated by Prism's founder:

RAINN (1.800.656.HOPE): A free and confidential hotline and live online chat, available 24/7.

The Breathe Network: An organization that connects survivors of sexual violence with trauma-informed, sliding-scale, holistic healing practitioners.

National Suicide Prevention Hotline (1.800.273.8255): A free and confidential lifeline and live online chat, available 24/7.

ChildHelp National Child Abuse Hotline (1-800-4-A-CHILD): A free and confidential hotline and live online chat, available 24/7—with professional crisis counselors available in more than 170 languages.

Time to Tell: A nonprofit whose mission is to spark stories from lives affected by incest and sexual abuse to be told and heard through activism and the arts.

For the Love of Type

Last month was the glorious return of Typeforce, helmed by Will Miller and Nermin Moufti. WOW. It was so amazing to be in the same room with other people to celebrate some good art, drink some stellar beer, and have a good time—even through our masks. We saw lots of eager design students and comforting, familiar faces. We saw some new artists join in the fun as well as some wildly talented return artists. We saw motion, audio and interactive work. We played some MadLibs, marveled at Arduino concoctions, and were delighted by type etched into car hoods.

It was also a beautiful reminder of how much we love collaborating with our Chicago design and art family. Props to the whole team at Co-Prosperity, the legendary Bridgeport gallery that was recently voted Best Art Gallery by the Chicago Reader. And an extra-big thank you to Co-Pro MVPs Paula Volpato and Nick Wylie.

Dispatch from DesignPod

We’re back with another FireWorks playlist. This month we’re sharing a selection of podcasts hand selected by our favorite crooner, voiceover artist, cat dad and Figma wizard Tom Tian. He also just happens to be a senior designer and resident fact finder here at the Belly.

From goblins and Princess Diana to gluteology and welfare reform—the playlist is a portal into his wild and wonderful brain. We have a feeling you'll be thanking us for this one.
