New Look for NCI

Nature's Classroom Institute and Montessori School is proud to announce the release of our newly redesigned website. It has been crafted to include both our Environmental Education programs and our Montessori school.

Immediately you will notice streamlined menus, simple navigation and access to the information you need, especially when planning a class trip to NCI.

We will continually expand our online content to bring you updated and relevant information for our sites in California, Texas and Wisconsin. We'd love to show you our new look!

Seeds to Sprouts

Seeds release all of their stored nutrients in a burst of life when they attempt to become a full-sized plant. By eating a sprout, such as a radish or alfalfa, you consume this burst of nutrition and energy. Sprouts are tiny, easily digest plants that are not only at a peak nutritional value, but are also very inexpensive and easy to grow.

Straw Through a Potato

The challenge is quite simple: Stab the straw through the potato without bending or breaking the straw. Most of your students will think it can’t be done, but you, of course, know better.

Bees for Hire

Pollination services, as the bees’ work is known in the industry, has risen this year to between $180 to $200 a hive. There would be no almond crop — not to mention avocados, apples, cherries and alfalfa — without honeybees. Of the 100 crops that account for 90 percent of the food eaten around the globe, 71 rely on bee pollination, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.

WMA 2017 Conference

Wisconsin Montessori Association hosts its 2017 conference in early March in Milwaukee. This year's theme is "Montessori: In Service to the Child, Family and Community". The keynote speaker is Dr Sharon Maxwell, clinical psychologist, with her work grounded in Montessori philosophy and helping children develop the muscle of self-control.

New Milwaukee Park to be Eco-friendly & Green

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett unveiled plans to create a new, super-green park, “Fondy Park,” on a vacant lot adjacent to the Fondy Farmers Market. This won’t just be a new green space, but a “storm water park” that is sustainable and eco-friendly in a project overseen by the city’s Environmental Collaboration Office (ECO). Fondy Park will reinvent the block as well as create a gathering place for residents of the Lindsay Heights neighborhood and other nearby neighborhoods.
