NCI Arrives in California

 
Nature’s Classroom Institute - Angelus Oaks is in the San Bernardino Mountains just above the South Fork Santa Ana River. Chickening Out


An examination of the inside of an unfertilized egg provides a wealth of information. The yolk is a food source for the chick. The chick develops from the germinal spot, which may be visible in the yolk. The albumen provides nutrients to the embryo.

Building with Straws


This STEM challenge integrates geometry and engineering concepts. Kids need to merge lines (straws) into triangles, and then after making triangles connect them to create a globe, all without being told how to do it! Your students have to use problem solving skills as well as spatial reasoning to solve challenges.

Species List


Effective mid-February, an Endangered Species listing is the best—and probably last—hope for the recovery of the rusty patched bumble bee. Bumble bees are dying off, vanishing from our farms, gardens, and parks, where they were once found in great numbers.
